In last month Carlton has:

Finished last on the ladder
Decided on sacking Pagan
Decided to keep Pagan
Decided on making Barry Mitchell Coach
Questioned Barry Mitchells future at club
Allowed its coach to fly to WA to watch Gardiner
Had its President rule out ever recruiting Gardiner
Entered draft week with two players stating they wanted to leave
Ended draft week without a suitable trade for either player
Failed to improve its list which is the worst in the competition
Failed to target or attract a player with its first pick in the PSD
Attracted very negative media almost on a daily basis

I have supported Carlton for over 30 years and this is my first post, I felt compelled to say something....

Surely its time for a change....?

What part is drivel?

Fairly accurate if you ask me.

There's 15 other clubs in this comp - find one that you can tick all the boxes and knock yourself out - I'm sure the wobbles would love to have you on board.

Sometimes it's a good idea to introduce yourself, get the lie of the land and then work your way up to a performance.

Howled down by who, all the people who are not saying anything.

There is only one side that has been doing the howling.

In the cold light of day it is a fair summation of our club over the last month or so. Still a lot of it has been built up by the media. I'd rather have D.Pagan than a R.Lyon (or G.Lyon for that matter).
As for the two dissidents, well I'm confident the Blues will re-sign Thornton. Good on them for not being shafted by Hawthorn. As for Russell, well he knows where he stands now, Port obviously don't rate him. He will have a lot of work to do to win back the confidence of the Blues faithful. Or he can walk straight back to SA for all I care - the guy aint a footballer.

Finished last on the ladder (Yeah. That was shit.)

Decided on sacking Pagan (He did finish last...)

Decided to keep Pagan (...But we couldn't afford to get rid of him)

Decided on making Barry Mitchell Coach (Did we? I thought we just considered it.)

Questioned Barry Mitchells future at club (Well, if he was agitating for the big-chair... But we haven't sacked him yet, have we?)

Allowed its coach to fly to WA to watch Gardiner (Yeah, 'cos he only went to look at Gardiner)

Had its President rule out ever recruiting Gardiner (Good move)

Entered draft week with two players stating they wanted to leave (One homesick kid, one greedy bloke who got convinced he was worth more...)

Ended draft week without a suitable trade for either player (Played hard-ball. Looks like we'll win.)

Failed to improve its list which is the worst in the competition (kept all our picks - the sensible way of improving the list)

Failed to target or attract a player with its first pick in the PSD (how do you know that? Maybe they just haven't told us who they've been talking to.)

Attracted very negative media almost on a daily basis (Because the papers have to kick someone... At the moment it's us.)

There are at least 5 lines in there that by implication are crap. What's wrong with Pagan going to at least see Gardiner - Saints obviously think he is worthy. We don't know that Smorgon hadn't spoken to Pagan before ruling out Gardiner.

Not having a suitable trade is a plus in my book - we should keep them both. How could we have improved our list without giving up picks? How do you know we won't get a decent player with our first PSD pick?

Funny - if Synbad had have posted the exact same thing (and let's face it, he does so regularly) there would have been a stream of posters rubbing their chin and muttering "indeed, old chap, indeed."

Gees and some people reckon TalkingStuff is elitist

c'mon guys give the kid a break...at least he hasn't come on and been personal against other posters.

And a lot of what he posts is just plain facts...although some have a certain slant on them. :P

he's 34!! and it's glass half empty mentality. that's what needs to change from the supporter base up if we are going to get the club we all love back to greatness.

In the last few days we had kept our 3 draft picks within the top 20 -not traded for Gardiner -stared down Hawthorn and Port - have moved quickly to confirm to Thorton and Russell that they are wanted
Not agreed to a trade for thorton and russell well under their market value -
Set a significant precedent to other clubs about poaching our young players and showed some steal
Agree with some of the other stuff 8)
