Would Richmond have ever thought in 1982 they would not contest a flag a quarter of a century?? What I was saying is, let's not think that Ratten, Bradley, SOS, Dean, or whichever favourite son will automatically do it for us. The Tiges thought that KB was their saviour, then Patto and then Swooper. We need to start with a blank canvas in ALL departments and rebuild with prudence when needed and with flair when needed. No bandaid solutions. I don't want to be discussing this same scenario in 5-10 years time[/quote]

You still want guys to run through brick walls - like Sydney and WC, but you no longer do it by intimidating them, or using the old methods of hype and bluster. Roos and Worsefold do it by getting inside their players heads and working with them. PD is a quater of a century behind modern football, and modern football is changing now every 3-4 years. Means he truely is a Dinosaur.

The broome hopefully will go through the place soon. There are no exsuces next year. End of story. And if we peform below expectations it will be all over for Dp and his limpy assistants.

If the board had any balls and wern't intimidated by the little beedy eyes of the one and only Mikey babes we would have a new coach.

Ratten will also form part of the coaching panel and Craig Bradley will jump on board on a part time basis.

Thanks B4e. So is that the final story - are those the 'additional 2' meaning we're set for 2007 after those 2? And Liberatore stays?

Head: Pagan
Assistants: Crosisca, Liberatore, Ratten
Part-timers: Bradley, Dempsey, Daniher

Rats is the only 1 who you'd think posed any risk to Pagan should the shit hit the fan say Rounds 1-5 2007?

so nick davis banished - what was that? I'd say that was a method Pagan would have used berfore Roos even got to Sydney asd a player.

There are new tactics and the speed of the game is accelerating and still
we do want players to run and crash packs - same as always, so the results are not want need to change - how we get there needs to change and for me that is as much a realm of the Board as the coacxh and therein lies the crux of the matter for Carlton.

Where oh where are the visionaries?

Would Ratten want to work with Denis? And would Denis accept Ratten, who's Fraser Brown's best friend & preferred coach?

If Fraser does get in Ratten could be heading the coaching panel.

I'm all for change but I'd much rather a guy with a few more years in the system.

A Ratten appointment if it were so would smack of " Jobs for mates ". He can have all the nous in the world but he needs more time in the pressure cooker that is an A.F.L coaches box.

Agree. One year as an assistant in the AFL and one year as head coach of effectively a suburban side, not enough.

If there is to be a new coach, due dilligence is a must! Interview all likely prospects and pick the best.

Eade talking about Bond

Quote:
"He's obviously done a pretty good apprenticeship as far as coaching his own team, as well as being in the system as an assistant coach for five or six years," Eade said of his midfield coach.

"He is very well organised and has a good handle on all aspects of coaching from sports science to add-ons like computers and that sort of stuff. He is a very good man-manager and has got good ideas on footy."

The Blues have already hired ex-Collingwood player and North Ballarat coach Gavin Crosisca, and will retain Tony Liberatore, but have held back making an announcement on the future of VFL (Bullants) coach Barry Mitchell,

I'm sorry I have to say this but :garthp: .
