Have to disagree there BMan.

We are taking steps now. I wouldn't want my grandmother presided over by Fraser Brown.

This week showed steely resolve from the club, we have been vindicated with our stance. JR will sign on with the club and we have sent a signal to the playing group and the rest of the league we mean business. We have some momentum - let's build on it.

Sure are!!

We can only get better!! It's inevitable, after 5 years at the bottom, and with the list we've got to move forward with.

I grant you, the latest flourish of resolve and purpose from Carlton does give rise to hope.

Sadly however, I do believe that we will end up becoming quite be disappointed when we see depth(or lack therof) of this 'steely resolve' of the current board.

They are quite limited in this respect. The 'flip flopping' over Pagan plainly revealed this.

The individuals on it simply do not have a sufficient amount of 'mongrel' within them.

When Demitriou says jump - our board replies : How High?.

While this approach was probably the best one for the period of the draft penalties and also to ensure that we are sufficiently cashed up to survive, it isnt the best for a Club that has moved on from that.

For all his faults, Fraser Brown does have the individualistic and self styled personality traits that are required to bring the kind of attitudes that are needed for this club to get back to where we all want it to be.

This approach will probably also induce others who own very large amounts of cash to look very kindly on our financially challenged club.

I am also well aware of Fraser Brown's has a rather ruthless reputation in business circles however he may not actually be on the future board, but will be very influential behind the scenes.

If you look at the kind of people that ran Carlton from the mid 1960's onwwards, there were many there that for a variety of reasons people mightnt like too much. There were many that I didnt particularly like.

But the inescapable truth is that for their many faults and for all the dubious aspects to their personalities, these people helped to fill our trophy cabinet...

It is this kind of Carlton that we need back, because with it, we will be able to become (an AFL law abiding version) what we once were.

So when is this new board coming? AGM March 2007? Great time to drag our name through the mud again in the media, inspires confidence amoungst the playing group, especially if they want to ditch Pagan.

If we want a line in the sand, a board challenge needs to be sooner than later or it will hurt us more than ever.

If there's no line in the sand soon I'll have to settle for some yellow snow.

Elements that will form a very high powered board are coming together.. just be patient.

Unlike our assistant coach situation there is an extensive search going on to get the right mix of footballers and high powered businessmen who are capable of steering the ship through these times.

Wont be long now....inside 2 to 3 weeks.

Weve waited 4 years and another few prior to that.. so this wont be too bad.

One of the first things that will come out of it will be the AFL will be told to get [REDACTED]!!!.. heres your money.

That will be our line in the sand...

Everything we do is being controlled by them using the carrot and the stick...

Its pathetic.

The club has been well and truly compromised....

And that my friend is the bain of this club's ability to make independent Carlton decisions. It's a pathetic situation to be in....it leaves us floundering.

This is the single most important event/ milestone for the club to achieve.

And on that very day, I'll be singing our song in the streets with gusto. We'll have our club back, earlier than anyone expected, and we'll be able to control our destiny, and refute the destiny the AFL has created for this great club.

bring it on!!!!!!

The line in the sand is the one dotted around Pagan's neck

Well you'd have to say the last week has been one of the most positive weeks we have had for a long time:

- standing our ground in trade week
- resigning 4 young players
- getting a great clubman back as an assistant coach
- getting this news to supporters quickly and keeping us informed

Couldn't be happier with the way the club has handled itself in the past 2 weeks.

Damage control 2 weeks...

As usual...

Nothing new...

Hmmm. A bit cynical.

I think that for once the club has shown a bit or ticker rather than damage control.

They haven't caved-in to other clubs more fortunate positions, have kept everything in-house and only told the media what they wanted to tell them when the time was right for a change.

Finally some professionalism and flexing of some old style Carlton muscle. As opposed to bending over and taking it in the kyber from all and sundry.

Well done. I have some hope; albeit possibly false but better than we've seen for a long time.
