Interesting responses...I'm very happy with this news but surely the resignations shouldn't have reached the papers in the first place? It's great that we've managed to keep on to each of our young sub-22ers who are likely to be part of the next good Carlton team, but the turmoil itself says something. It would have been better for the Club to have dealt with these where possible (and I'm thinking Thornton mainly) well before the trade period.

While the club being at fault is probably the cause, we actually do not know how long ago Hawthorn started working on Thornton. The delay with contract negotiations may have come from Thornton's side.

But if the club is run so badly, how can you trust the information coming out of it to be accurate?

Good to see this news. It would seem we are moving behind the scenes better than I thought.

Well done Wigga. Looked inevitable that he was going to be part of the mass exodos of 2006 only a year ago. Courage, consistancy and value to the team got him this well deserved contract.

Very happy with this news, and looking forward to watching Russell come on this year hopefully with extended ground time. Also happy to hear about wiggins and blackwell as well.

Now our focus can move onto selecting a new player in the PSD. Obviously we our deficient in the ruck but not sure Keating has the body to standard up to the rigors anymore. Any other Ruckman nominating???

Great news. Especially about JR. Blackers was always going to stay. He loves the club and has family here.

I was a bit surprised to see the wiggler getting a 2 year contract. Around about the halfway mark of the season it looked like he was going to get delisted. I just hope that he improves his disposal and gains the confidence to be a hard running halfback flank/wingman. He always gets a lot of the ball. Good luck to him.

JR has all the attributes to be a great player in the Nigel Lappin mould. I really do hope he keeps his head down and works hard to reach his potential. He will put on a couple more kg over summer I reckon.

Go Blues.
