Dont know about that.

Two previously exceptional midfielders coaching the midfield and forward groups may be a masterstroke. Libba and Ratts should at least be on the same page as far as linking the two groups together.

If the forwards can better understand how the midfield play and look to deliver the ball (from the eyes of a ex-champion midfielder) and vice-verca, it may be an exciting mix.

I'm sure Ratts would get some input into how the midfield will deliver to his forward line. I've never seen any footballer as good as Ratts at getting his hands on the ball in a pack and winning clearances. Imagine Murphy, Gibbs, Walker, Simmo with a bit of Ratten rubbed into them. :-D

Gives me a woody just thinking about it. 8)

There was a bloke who wore Number 2 for us who was ok at it too.

I'm a little uneasy about the 'appointment' in the sense that I'm cynical about it being done to appease the masses, but the Melbourne midfielders rave about Ratts, especially McLean, so that makes me happier.

Ratts - get McLean over here.

I dont have a problem with 2 Carlton guys who are totally inexperienced getting the thumbs up.
I have more of a problem with all 3 of them have not gone through a genuine process and have come from outside the loop.

Now if we had someone well ragarded and these 2 as part timers.. i wouldnt be as concerned.

But then again part time is so yesteyear.

Most assistants now are full time at other clubs.

We have mostly part timers .

We'll all laugh at Collingwood when Mick assumes a mentor role to Bluey McKenna - the head coach, with the likes of Buckley as assistant..

God I'm jealous. Can we just once, do it right.

this is good news, hopefully Ratten can teach some of our kids how to fire a handball out to a team mate under a pack of players.

But he won't be working with the midfielders. Why get a midfielder to coach the forwards? What has Libba done to retain his job? Why not get a forward to coach the forwards?

Maybe not a bad move. ratts said somewhere that he wanted to do the forwards to get a different perspective. If we felt that the link between the midfield and the forwards was letting us down then having a midfielder coach our forwards might be a great way to improve the link play. Better that than a forward coaching our midfield :?

Ratts will be coaching the forwards to help him flesh out his CV for a senior coaching role. Just like Longmire is going to be coaching the midfield in Sydney.

Ratts is taking this gig with an eye to a (Carlton's?) senior coaching role.

I think you're spot on!
TD's coacjhing is about body work, and beating your opponent. Note it says he will complement TD with forward coaching, I'm assuming this means teaching the forwards where to go when the midfield has the ball.... perhaps this has been thoughht through after all..

I think you'll find that former midfielder Brett Ratten is coaching our forwards because they're always in the bloody midfield.

When Pagan allows our forwards to actually play in the forward line it'll be worth getting a forward coach who actually was a forward. :?

Ratts said on SEN that he believed there was still to be yet another Assistant Coach to be appointed.

It'll be Craig Bradley.

Our midfielders are mostly in defence so we should get a defender to coach them.

I thought they already had BlueWorld - that's why the ball is cleared out of there in a second...

Nothing against Bradley, but after the Ratten and Crosica appointments I think we need an experienced assistant.

Ratten and Bradley smacks of currying favour to the masses.

Agreed.

Crosisca props up Pagan.

Ratten props up the board.

Now we need one who might be able to prop up the team. :?

Not sure Dempsey is still there, in the interview I heard with Pagan on AW, he mentioned Daniher and the others, but no mention of Dempsey. He then said that there would be another anouncement, and another part timer appointed.

Anyone know anything about this? Maybe they figured there was no point in having a ruck coach if they don't have any ruckmen :?

Now that Elshaug is gone, who is gonna be the one that Pagan yells at in the coaches box when things are not going so well?
