I love this time of year. Excitement is generated when we finally release those who aren't quite up to AFL level. All 3 players released have been great VFL contributors and at stages I've had high hopes for all 3.

Now for the next crew in Livo, Chamber, Davies, Bryan. Those who should also follow if the club has the balls are Teague, Deluca and Saddington.

Promote Smith and Jacko. Flint another year on rookie list, no rush for this boy, he will be special.

Make the play Blues, at least 6 picks in this draft and we are like the lady kicking the can down the road ..... movin!!

I feel sad for Sporny. Lot's of injuries early in his career prevented him from really showing us his best. Good luck for the future Sporny. :(

Also best of luck to Prenda. I always admired his workrate and was a good clubman by the sounds of things.

And Longmuir..........um........ bye.

Well all I can really say is thank God Sporn got those last 10 games this year (8 of which were at Russell's expense). If not for those games there's no way I would have been confortable with the club's decision to delist him, but now I'm completely fine with it.

looks like a blunder. maybe if russell had played those games he wouldnt have been as vocal in wanting to go home, its amazing what a bit of AFL footy can do for a young man.

give em a go dennis, by all means not until their body can stand up to afl footy, but when they are ready, play them for atleast a half mate. :!:

prender really is a champion guy. wish him all the best for the future, hopefully he'll chose to pursue his footy with the Ants.

Can't fault Prender at all, gave it everything and a fantastic bloke. It's just a bit of a shame I suppose from a supporters' point of view that he wasn't blessed with more footballing ability because someone with his size and endurance could really be a star of the competition with a bit more talent. But he got the most out of himself and he should be congratulated for that. Had a breakthrough year of sorts in 2004 but wasn't really able to go on with it due to injury and maybe a lack of confidence in 2005-06. But he got the most out of himself and that's all you can ask.

Longmuir never got going unfortunately and injury this year didn't help as I'm sure he might have played a few more games and hence had more of a chance to make an impact if he hadn't injured his shoulder mid-season.

And as for Sporn, well at least James Hird will sleep well tonight.

Prenda - Best of luck in your future endeavours, and thanks for busting a gut out there every bloody time you pulled on the jumper.

Sporn - At least you went out on a high with a quality game. Pity you couldn't play Golden Jimmy into retirement though.

Troy - Thanks for coming over and trying for a regular spot. Shame you couldn't get it due to injury.

Best of luck, the three of you. :(

I actually hope we keep Davies, he is a class player, plays above hie height and has impressed me when playing senior football. His detractors can't get past the fact that he kicked a few more points than goals but that in reality was just a small patch of his short career. We would do well to keep him.

What position does he play? Not good enough to play half forward, not good enough to play in the midfield. Doesn't take many overhead marks. Can't kick to save himself. Rarely gets the ball.

His kicking lets him down a bit,but that can be worked at,he should be played in the middle, hasn't had much go there in the AFL,not on the forward pocket,he was one reason the younger kids like Blackwell and others have made the step up,they work extremely well together. I know he got hot headed like in those 5 games he missed, but he still not 25,one more year, wouldn't kill the club it's not like he will demand much money as other and we need some back ups. I rather keep a midfielder, then Livo,Teague,Mcgrath or the old Chambers and Average player like Bannister and Bryan.

Prenda was an inspiration for his work ethic.Lack of footy ability cost him.
Sporn is a good reader of the play but lacks pace height strength and kicking penetration. He will star at a lower levl but it shows how good you have to be to be an AFL regular.
Longmuir had talent and injuries hurt him but I thought he was a wasted pick. And his last game for the Ants was pathetic. new the chop was coming and played accordingly.

Always hard though when you are rejected in any capacity .Good luck in the future boys.

Good luck to all 3... Specially Prenda, thanks for the wizard cup goal! He has a great career ahead of him. Hope he goes back to the ants.

Hopefully Chambers and Davies will follow, can't believe the support for Davies now... he has hardly been able to break into a run all year from all reports. We have to cut our losses.

don't forget Brent Heaver and Ricky Mott as players who played well against Carlton and who we then picked up

Davies may get another go now that Ratten has joined the club - didn't Rats ordain his jumper number to Juzzy a few years back?

Prenders was one of my favourite leaders at the club in the last 5 years.

He embraced Carlton, and Carlton embraced him, for his part after 7 years. But Carlton never really embraced him properly on the field. He should have been the classic 6 foot wingman and better being 6 foot 4; instead he was used as Mr fix it and pinch it. He had a great motor, and he was tough.

I'll miss him on our lists. But I'm glad he's going, as I couldn't stand reading posters bag him on his football abilty. He could play footy alright, and yeah he had an awkward kicking style, but it wasn't bad.

When he played, I had hope.

If you really want to know what was bad for him, it was his coaches; Parkin when he was escaping, Brittain holding the baby; and old style Pagan taking him nowhere.

Good luck Prenders, I for one will miss you. Thanks for the memories.

I feel a touch of sadness that Prenda and Sporny are going. They were good players in the VFL, but not quite consistent enough for the AFL. Unfortunately, neither were really the coach's favourite in the past couple of years either.

TLo, well thanks for coming over and giving it your best.

Prenda is one of those sad stories, gave his all consistently, great attitude but just couldn't kick!

Best of luck bud!

Uhh, the name 'Murray Vance' comes to mind...

- and I severely doubt we'll ditch Chris Bryan this year, as we are struggling ruckman-wise for next year already. Besides, I think he has a bit of potential....

As an avid Gibbs fan, I will be sh!#%ing myself if they dump Bryan.
If that happens, I would just about put my house on 'The Berger' going No.1.
