doing the rounds dont know how true

The Carlton Football Club has announced further changes to the playing list
as part of the revising of the list for the 2007 season. Two Primary list
players and two Rookie List players have been advised they will not be
offered new contracts with Carlton. They join Barnaby French who retired
following the 2006 season and Ian Prendergast, Trent Sporn and Troy
Longmuir who were delisted earlier this week.

Luke Livingston, who played 46 games for Carlton after making his debut in
2002 and Cory McGrath, who played 50 games in three seasons for Carlton,
having previously played 28 games for Essendon* between 2001 and 2003, have
been delisted. Rookie List players Jesse Smith and Daniel Batson who have
both been Rookie List players for two seasons, have been advised they will
not be elevated to the Primary List. Jesse played two games for Carlton in
rounds 20 and 21 this season while Daniel Batson has played the last two
seasons with Carlton's VFL affiliate team, the Northern Bullants.

"We take the opportunity to thank the players for the commitment they have
given to Carlton and wish them well going forward. In particular Luke and
Cory who have been at Carlton a number of years and have been excellent
ambassadors for the Carlton Football Club," added Grant.

Any further changes to the playing list will be advised prior to the first
List Lodgement with the AFL on Tuesday October 31st.

People on BF stating that Livo and McGrath have been delisted and Batson and Smith cut from the rookie list - anyone confirm??

The players forum has had a bit of activity, including those names.

Haven't bothered to read it but.

Bit harsh on McGrath I would have thought.

So that'd be 5 ND picks, a PSD pick and two rookie positions?

That's if no one is promoted.

McGrath is a bit of a shock.

Perhaps an indication that there are more delistings to come?

very suprised that McGrath was let go, I would hope that it is indicative of a big draft intake as opposed to keeping one of Chambers or Davies.

Shame for Livo and Cory...

Cory i thought was a handy player to have on the list (particularly if we were to keep someone like Teague), and i feel for Livo - you can only wonder what he would have been if not for his horrid run with injuries initially.

QFT

Real shame Cory's gone. I like the way he goes about it.

Geez I hope most of the guys we chop stay at the Ants - worked for Diggers this year.

Cory

Looks like we will delist at least 10 if McGrath has gone already. Plenty worse than Cory on our list.

It's looking that way.

There are a lot of players I would delist ahead of McGrath and they're still on the list eg. Chambers, Teague, Davies etc.

We're gonna be drafting heavily in this year's superdraft!! 8)

Sad to see you both go.

Livo deserved to make it. Life is f*cked sometimes.

McGrath is a real shock - wasn't the worst on our list by a long shot.

Best of luck boys - may life bring you happiness after football.

Look forward to seeing Livo running around for either the saints or lions next year. Top bloke and clubman - will be missed...will forever wonder how much that twisted bowel that nearly killed him affected his development. Good luck to him.

For those who just tuned in: complete list.

Bannister, Jordan
Bentick, Adam
Betts, Eddie
Blackwell, Luke
Bower, Paul
Bryan, Chris
Carrazzo, Andrew
Chambers, Callum - D
Davies, Justin - D
Deluca, Adrian
Edwards, Jake
Fevola, Brendan
Fisher, Bradley
Flint, Craig - R
Hartlett, Adam
Houlihan, Ryan
Jackson, Ryan - R
Kennedy, Josh
Koutoufides, Anthony - V
Lappin, Matthew - V
McLaren, Dylan
Murphy, Marc
O'Hailpin, Aisake - R
O'Hailpin, Setanta
Raso, Anthony
Russell, Jordan
Saddington, Jason
Scotland, Heath
Simpson, Kade
Stevens, Nick
Teague, David - D
Thornton, Bret
Waite, Jarrad
Walker, Andrew
Whitnall, Lance
Wiggins, Simon

R - rookie listed
V - eligible for veteran listing
D - probable delisting

My theory: Those marked for delisting get the chop and Flint and Jacko score a promotion.

6 ND picks (1, 17, 19, 35, 51, 67), 1 PSD pick & up to 4 rookies.

That or Flint stays on the rookie list for one more ND pick (83)

This tells me we are serious about rebuilding. As hard as McGrath trained and tried I think best case scenario was that he would be worth a spot on the list for maybe only 1-2 more years. He has a great work ethic but isn't the future.

At last...rebuiding.

Jimmae, I think despite the superdraft that our Pick 83 will still likely to be in the 60's. Some teams are close to the top and will only have 4-5 picks at most so I am hoping that our late picks can still try to exploit as many Hartigan / White / Raso picks we possibly can. Either than or 2 PSD choices.

I can't believe some of the crap I am reading on this thread!! Poor Livo, Prenda was a great bloke, Cory is a bit of a shock.

GET OVER IT!

The majority of you guys (me included) have bagged the living sh#t out of the playing list this year. Finally we are seeing some of the deadwood being cut away and some people start getting a little teary.

I say bugger off to all those that have been given the arse. Its good to see the broom finally going through the joint.

Prenda - should have stuck to the athletic track
Longmuir - wish we recruited the other one
Sporn - laughing stock (and not just because of his hairstyle)
Livo - biggest waste of pick 4 ever seen
McGrath - Essendon* hack

Now all we need to do is axe Chambers, Davies, DeLuca (maybe keep cos Frenchy has gone), Saddington and Teague.
