NO!

I want them to take risks and learn from their mistakes.

I reckon this one alone would have a positive outcome.

To some degree I think we might be recruiting the right players however when they arrive at our club we fail to develop them properly or not as effective as other clubs would....

For example look at Sporn and Houla….in there younger days they were told to spend time in the gym to become bigger so they could cope with the AFL…By telling them this there upper body’s became massive however there leg strength was still weak, which still allowed them to be bumped off the ball easily.

They are too big to be classified as an athletic midfielder and now are just too slow because we failed to develop them physically…..

I think you might be right there Fab.

At least with Houls he did some miles in those legs last preseason to build the stamina to play midfield. This preseason he can focus on core strength, and hopefully lose a bit of upper weight...and he may then be the complete package.

Fast
Strong
Skillful

pretty rare commodity...sounds like Judd doesn't it. But there's only one Judd.

Houla is young enough, with good hand and foot skills, and experienced enough to become something really good for us in future....after all he did start the 2006 season as our best and most consistent player, then fell away in the 2nd half....maybe because of the lack of strength to see out the season, maybe something to do with the coaching.

That's exactly what Pagan has been at training ... an electric shock machine. Pulling players up if they do not rigidly follow a predetermined rule, no matter the options available.

BV is right, this needs to change. Team rules are fine, but players need to be encouraged to take risks and look for good options.

One thing I want to see change is that when we have possession in the backline, players up field actually run instead of saunter or stand still. I also want to see proper shepherds instead of a vague wave of the arms.

And when we have possession at the kick-in, I want to see players making position for the 2nd possession (e.g. running into space outside 50) as the 1st possession is being delivered.

And yes, like all of us, I want to see the mid-field rotated, and all of them get rest time, and share the load among the 22 players.
