If I wanted to have a whinge (which I do of course) I would complain about Essendon* getting that many Friday nights - the AFL will regret this as will the tv networks, wasn't the lower ratings this year due to Essendon*?

Also Collingwood will follow suit and be low on the ladder also causing lower ratings and lower value for the game overall.

Collingwood & Essendon* attract the big crowds because there supporters still believe. WE DON'T....this is the by product of being down for so long and waiting for handouts to improve. We are stuffed and have no balls or standing any-more.

We are the VFL Saints in the AFL.

On TV we usually get the numbers because our supporters would rather suffer in the solitude of their own home than be subjected to the reality of actually going to a game. :(

Quote:
The AFL chose to release the draw on Wednesday despite TV arrangements for next season not being finalised. Discussions between rights holders the Seven and Ten networks and Foxtel about the pay-TV operator broadcasting up to four matches each weekend are continuing.

As a result, the league has spent the last few days tweaking the draw so that it serves all stakeholders irrespective of whether all eight matches are televised on free-to-air TV, or whether the five-three split of the last five years is maintained, or even if there is a new arrangement in which four matches per weekend are on pay-TV.

If this is the case, then the 1.10pm Sunday afternoon game, previously televised live around Australia on free-to-air TV, would move to pay-TV.

Good for you but this year I'm going to get value for money, with the added advantage knowing too well that the AFL run BLUES will not die or reallocate.
If it's good for our board ....... It's good for the supporters. 8)

I have foxtel and my 2007 membership already. Value for money is attending the game, then coming home to watch the replay.

Interesting isn't it...we've been "down for so long"...5 years in fact. Think about the Dogs, Melbourne, Geelong, St Kilda...dare I say...Richmond...they've been down for 25 - 50 years. I can't even begin to fathom what that might be like.

Just an observation.

Amen brother, likewise mjonc - don't have foxtel but I'm seriously considering getting the basic package, even if only for the couple of Carlton games that I might not attend/catch on TV...

Convinced by partner to get her 1st Carlton membership *already a supporter - a criteria for going out with me  * because I'll be stuffed if I'm getting a member but having to sit in general admission every time she wants to come!!

And for the record, the Essendon-Collingwood Anzac Day match is only a blockbuster drawcard for the AFL because the AFL created it that way, built the hype and - even if the two insidious teams are languidhing down the bottom of the ladder - will still attract 80,000+... THAT shits me, favoritism for the two suck-jobs of the AFL... only consolation this year, I hear there is only a 4 day turnaround for both teams before playing their next matches. :P

It's a big deal if you live up here in Qld.

We hardly see the Bluebaggers on the FTA TV unless they are playing on Friday night (which we get delayed at about midnight), or when they play away to Sydney or at home to Brisbane. With just 1 game in Brisbane each year (sometimes), we're gonna love going to 2 games up here this year.

The Carrara game will may even get a better crowd than it would in Melbourne being a Kangaroos home game.

Personally ..... can't wait.

Considering our performances, fair draw.

it's good, we've got a nice test with some tough games, WCE and Freo at Subi, Sydney in sydney, and we have a good mix of games, that, if we are really fair dinkum improving, we should win.

im pretty happy with it.

That's a pathetic draw and the sooner we abandon the dome the better so the Filth don't get all the $$$$$ the better.

Playing three of the top four sides away isn't a great reward for finishing last two years in a row, but Essendon* have to play the Eagles, Dockers and Crows twice. :P

Get on the Bombers for the spoon and the Kreuzer cup. :P

At this stage there may not be any live ganes on foxtel- atm 7 & 10 have to cover all games.

I love the fact that we play most of our games on Saturday. It will feel just right going to the footy again. One or two more Friday night games would have been good, but I am not complaining.

I hope that Channels 7 and 10 show the whole 8 games for the round. That will give new supporters the chance to see Murph, Walks and Gibbs in action. ;)
