Good luck.

IMO, its preferable to get a CEO with fantastic management skills and let him learn about the culture of AFL football. than vice versa.
Everyone would prefer someone with all the skills but thats not always possible....nor probable.

Nothing came out of the board meeting last night regarding Malouf.

Hopefully, the interview process for the new candidate is continuing or being finalised.

Well at the bottom of this article in the HUN they seemed to be on the agenda

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 42,00.html
The future of Blues chief executive Michael Malouf remains unclear after last night's board meeting.

There has been increasing pressure on Malouf and last month the Herald Sun revealed some of Carlton's most influential identities had sounded out possible candidates to replace him.

Malouf has the support of president Graham Smorgon, but it is understood there are several directors who have expressed their dissatisfaction with his management style.
Which is why I said, nothing came out of it that suggested one way or the other that the CEO position was resolved.

Interesting question Jon. I was actually reading that article this morning and thinking, 'who on the Board has leaked that information to Jim Wilson??".

Board support for Blues CEO
2:14:37 PM Wed 25 October, 2006
Sportal for afl.com.au

The Carlton board has reaffirmed its support for the club's chief executive Michael Malouf.

In a media release on Wednesday, Carlton president Graham Smorgon said: "The position of the CEO was reviewed as part of our overall review of the operations of the club and I am pleased to confirm that Michael Malouf has been strongly supported by the board."

"Michael has provided outstanding leadership in his role as CEO since he joined the club from the Melbourne City Council in July 2003, the toughest period in the history of the Carlton Football Club.

"During this time he has managed some of the biggest decisions in the club's history and has implemented a business plan that has provided the platform to rebuild the Carlton Football Club as we go forward."

Malouf doesnt have the full support of anyone apart from Smorgon.. as Smorgon was the man who appointed him in the first place. Smorgon sees any overtures of overthrowing Malouf as destabilisation to his own presidency. (He looks like a dill ) but no matter how they shore things up for themselves its all going to come down soon...

Malouf has to go. If the Watts report was damning of him and the adminstration, surely he has to be the fall guy - the buck stops with the CEO!!

To say Malouf has been disappointing over his tenure would be an understatement!!!

Can only point to the redevelopment as his greatest achievement - however, in the context of other clubs' bids at the same time, it wouldn't have been that difficult to secure funds from the various stakeholders.

Malouf has been far better than Hanly... not great mind you, but let's keep that part in perspective. He hasn't been our worst CEO.

So we compare and rade people according to the "worst".????

Great!...

Look MM is a good bloke... but he lacks the kind of nouse we need.. and there are better candidates and this is just another of a host of balls ups made by a board that is unwilling to make changes because its too hard. And a president that needs him to stay for his own political credibility.

But its all going to fall over.... you cant cling to life when youre already dead...
