I was just looking at the Bluseum site and thought a good addition to the site might be images of past Blues 'weg' posters.

If you reckon it's a goer, I also have a '86 weg poster for Carlton as winner of that year. Now I know they didn't win and were runners up, but I managed to get a copy of the poster before they were destroyed! 8)

So what do think of the 'weg' idea for Bluseum???

Just on those posters, they are available at the Herald Sun shop ($35 each I think). WEG has also done retrospective ones, back to 1906. I went and checked them out, thought I'd splurge and get the set. But to be honest, I wasn't actually that impressed with the retrospective ones.

I've got all of the original posters from 1968 onwards....bought on the footbridge usually after the game.

The retro's aren't as good....the originals are all numbered; as proceeds always went to the Childrens Hospital Appeal.

The Original 1970 poster was also famous, as Weg mistakenly gave his "Carlton player" five fingers and a thumb on his left hand!

We had ours all mounted and laminated years ago, as the older ones were yellowing, and as we were moving around Australia a lot; I was worried they'd get damaged.

My Wife was offered a few thousand for them about 5 years ago by a Collector......FAT CHANCE!

Might be a copyright issue. They would probably give permission for reproduction, but it would be nice to ask first?

Yep, the reason there are no Wegs on the site yet is for copyright reasons.

Weg is very active online though his own store on ebay, he has given permission to some footy sites for use of his images.

Just have not got around to asking permission yet, would be awesome to have all sixteen Weg's on the one page.

I've got a one page A4 of all of Weg's posters (as they are available now)

It was in The Herald Sun a few months ago I think.

Weg would have to be 130 years old to have done all thost turn-of-the-century posters

Have you seen him lately?

I'm pretty sure he is.

In that case its probably some "carer" who's doing those modern posters....

Make that 17! With an '86 Carlton Premiers Weg 8)
Now that is one I'm sure many Hawks fans would be happy to see :P

Bill Green...(WEG) is about 82; is very active; and still draws for various charities....he lives with his wife in Heathmont.

I'm pretty sure that the first WEG Poster as we know them, was drawn to mark the Bulldogs First Flag win in 1954.

All of the posters now available that precede that date; have been drawn especially by WEG to be sold to aid the RCH.

He's remarkable the way he still spends the morning after the Grand Final autographing his posters outside the Herald Sun Building in Southbank.

Would be interesting to see if we could get a collection of "unofficial Premiership WEGS" - I'm sure there would be a few under the counter from some 'naughty' Carlton supporting Herald & Weekly Time employees out there somewhere. :P
