Point taken mordan buddy, look, even the media is split here, for and against it, however, the for crowd get next to no space apart the one paper that is the official reporter for the series. And I understand the amateur point you make, but again agree with you, regardless of anything, when you go over the line, its 15 men against 15, full stop.

Bookie, I am a bit confused, can you tell me which Irish players said what or even what was said by the players themselves?

Storm in a tee cup Honestly. It will be forgotten well before round one 07. Yes BF went a tad too far. So what Not worth the publicity that the Hun gave it away considering the war the proddies and the micks have raged against each other.
As for Uncle Jeffy he has gone a little too far coming out with the shit about a non Hawthorn player.

No doubt still pissed off about the Thornton miss.

Jeff Kennet is a flower. Hopefully he has enough sense to realise that he's joining John Elliot and David Cloke in the 'dial a quote' section of journo's phone books. His comments do more harm to his club than ours; we've got a dimwit as a fullforward, they've got a tosser as a president.

Don't like the anti-Irish sentiment that's popping up on these boards, the barman is well within his rights to press charges. I see a fair share of footy players out on the tiles and Fev acting like that puts him in the Buddy Franklin/Chris Tarrant class. The good news is no one got hurt, the club will come to its senses and remove Fev from any discussions involving captaincy and Fev might come to terms with the notion that discipline and commitment to being a proffessional means more than chasing blokes out of the forward line and telling everyone how you've 'turned it round'

Well said Beano - on all counts.

I'm yet to meet an irishman who cried over a minor barny... FFS, this is Australia v. Ireland - NOT Spain v. Italy... All this soccer exposure is making the media go crazy.

Pity all the little school kids now, this sentance will be the benchmark for all school principals to punish kids wrestling at play time.

Fev reckons he was provoked, said the barman was bagging Aussies. I'm really disappointed in Fev, he should have punched his lights out.

Well you can tell the media a crying out for a story its all the out of AFL season Journos wanting stay in print and have something to talk about.
Even more fun to the jounos that its the CFC under the spotlight.

Not doubt about Fev did major wrong and really needs to access his outlook especially as he will be the one to suffer more than anybody else in this incidence..

He is an easy target from his previous misdemeaners he has gone leaps and bounds through out the 2006 season abstaining for drink cleaned up his image and been a great onfield leader with his passion. Always defends the club and has opinions regardless of good or bad his intentions are.. But as was posted by Robbo a 12 second incident has taken him back to square one..

Yer i dont really care about the Inernational rules .... but as i said before Fev will be hurting heaps especially for being the first person ever forced off a tour... not wearing te Aus Colours and representing his country in the second game which he was kean to perform in. And he will face ridicule when back here for a while... Why he did it @#$%&! knows maybe being off the piss made him want to binge out and possibly in the enviroment day off / horse races other players also taking advantage he just went to far.

As Elwood stated earlier .... this will hopefully be the biggest wake up call and the oppertunity for him to really stick it up to the outside critics .journo's and ex pollies all havin a crack at him.

he has the oppertunity to really look to turn this incident into a defining turning point and get back the respect with a fantastic season of discipline and result.

Lets not also forget that like many AFL players he has done shit loads of good comunity work visiting kids and the like of which only a very little probably gets noticed.. He will be the one who will be hurting most from this and will be the one who has suffered for his actions and i do know missing out a chance to represent his country and play in that second match and prob never get another chance is his worst punnishment.. Turn it around Fev and make a big but positive impact in 2007.

I hope Fev didn't drop any beer. That would be very un-Australian and worthy of a lengthy suspension :-D

Seriously I'm reading the article below and its just the biggest waste of bandwidth on the Internet, and that is saying something.

PS: If you have a cap on your Internet downloads, don't bother reading the article, unless your deeply depressed and need a laugh.

I'm sure he wouldn't have been sent home if it was just a 'headlock'.

But a storm in a teacup.

I'm sure there would have been no mention of a headlock had there been anything more.

He is going to get some stick this year, but fingers crossed another Coleman silences the critics.

Just watched it, and do you know what, I believe Fev for some reason.
I dont believe that the players had to suffer racial abuse, sure most of those boys at this point work socialise or play wiht guys of different races.

Foolhardy antics stain a concept that still needs to be defended
Quote:
The Australians introduced a brutal aggression on the field last year that did more to imperil the concept than Brendan Fevola's headlock. The Irish reacted far more angrily to the assaults that took place on the field last year than to the minor one that took place off it this year.

The Fevola incident is a storm in a pint glass. His silly drunken altercation with a barman was little more than dumb. He did not rape anyone, but he did commit another boorish bone-headed footballing act of dopiness. He deserved sanction

BEST THING THAT EVER COULD HAVE HAPPENED!!

Fevola swears off alcohol because his wife is pregnant. He then wins the Coleman Medal playing the best footaball of his carrer.

My fear was always that he would then become complacent and start drinking a bit (maybe a lot, clearly he has a drinking problem), and turn in an average year next year.

Thus I was hoping his wife would get pregnant again, but given this is unlikely so soon, this is the next best thing.

Now Fev has no choice but to pull his head in, swear off the drink again, and show everyone he can play great footy and that last year wasn't a one off.

Yes Fev's a flower and of course he shouldn't be captain (this will finally end all those ridiculous suggestions), but in terms olf benefiting the Blues on field next year, make no mistake, what happened in Ireland is a good thing.

You cant defend stupidity.

And im not defending it BUT.. it just highlights what happens when you conjure up a bullshit hybrid game up to pretend two countries are playing off against each other in some fair dinkum pretend ashes series.

Best of two????

Why were the players all out drinking?
Who was watching over them???
Who is the team manager???
Where was the team manager???

Sheedy???
Fletcher????
Voss?????

Get real!!!...

Nahh... nothing more than an end of year piss up with australian jumpers handed out.

Noone takes it more seriously than what it really is.. a nothing tour .. playing against some postmen and teachers..who have also been forced by their governing body to change their game to help make some money (which by the way they themselves never see) for the Gaelic League and the AFL.. (Also so the AFL can feel like they have an international sport- which is so far away from AFL football it isnt even funny)

Dustin Fletcher captain says it all doesnt it. A joke of a tournament . Only watched it to see if Simmo didnt get hurt. Rapped Fev got booted off the team. At least its safer killing a few brain sells with booze than some Irishman falling across the knee and @#$%&! the impending season that counts.

One good thing so far Sheedy's 06 coaching record remains in tact.Shithouse.
