I don't see anything wrong with Caro's article at all. In fact I'd like a few more like that. As people have pointed out the Fevola incident just gave a reason to write more broadly about issues at the club. That's a fair enough link to make. If anything she didn't go hard enough and simply reiterated a few things we already knew. She's not going to get every bit of it right every time; different sources have different information and that's part and parcel of the confusion that's reigning at the club at the moment.

If the media just gloss over the club's spin and stick with the pay per view arse-licking, back page love-ins of the Hun we're in all sorts. That's the sort of crap that gets boards re-elected by grandstand drongos who wouldn't know Marc Murphy's shoulder from Jason Saddington's knee.

I want hard hitting, serious articles outlining all the crap that's going on at Carlton and I want it now.

Synbad's right - things will happen - but if we all kick and scream and deny it and shoot the messenger every time anyone wants to tell us that there's trouble in Denmark then we may get left with the current crap.

There are forces martialling who are trying to work out the best way of wresting control of the club from the incumbent incompetents who would rather hire a PR firm than a coach who knows what he's doing. Whether they go ahead sooner rather than later is still unclear but the more under the pump people like Caroline Wilson can place this administration and board (note administration and board rather than club) the sooner we'll be rid of the F@%&#!.

Keep writing Caro and keep putting it out there.

The club is currently a shambles and I want it public.

Agreed...

Agreed.

Agreed :-D

Agreed.

If everyone else is agreeing best I not be left out.

Agreed!

I agree with Elwood Blues and Siegfried but not with Chubbyruss, Warby and Kaptain Kouta. Jim makes a good point.

We should change the name of the thread to

Caro - Saviour of the Carlton Football Club.

I do recall that we also bag, Sheahan and Robinson and Smith as well when they are so pathetically negative and totally biased about Carlton.

Caro and her ilk will lead with a story about ants [the garden variety] seen outside PP and then go into a diatribe about rats that are to be found in the Board and the MC and FD and the blah, blah, blah and we are a rabble etc, etc.

We all know this - Caro HIGHLIGHTING incessantly for her own self gratification sin't what is going to affect change.

Do you think Caro seriously harbours a secret love for the club and she is hoping to do this to save us from ourselves? :?

Probably not, but I'm sure she sees a strong, healthy, arrogant and successful (on-field and off) Carlton as vital to the ongoing success of the AFL.

In that regards, any article she writes which serves to give a well-deserved kick in the pants to the Board is worthwhile.

I hope the changes that Synbad has outlined happen, I really do.

But I wouldn't give Caroline Wilson one iota of credit for it.

Her's is another agenda steeped in hatred of the Carlton Football Club., based on many historical incidents passed on by her father the ex-President of the Richmond Football CLub. She is a bitch and a shrivelled prune - and further I just dont like her. There are plenty of places I can get the truth I don't need her skewed version of it.

A quality response.

There's no problem disliking someone, but irrationally ignoring their view due to some misogynistic bent, tends to flush down the drain any credibility your post is trying to achieve.

Do I like Wilson? I have no opinion, as I've never met her, but even if I didn't, it doesn't mean I won't give credit where it's due.

Let's get some perspective shall we?

Wilson is not any saviour, and nor are the other journalists mentioned, but just because they write a negative story, doesn't mean they're fair game for pathetic abuse.

On a few occasions I've got stuck into what journalists write if I believe they are being lazy in their reporting (Sheahan & Smith), but I've never felt the need to condemn someone who speaks the truth.

Funnilly enough, if our club was being run with a vague amount of competency, then maybe the journalists would find another club to write about.

Jack this is my perspective.

I have never met Caroline Wilson - but I dont have to meet someone to tell I dont like them.

Hands up everyone here who doesn't like Patrick Smith.

One thing I can tell you Jack is that I LOVE the Carlton Football Club.

Always have and always will.

My posts do tend on the side of 'tongue in cheek' most of the time. However one thing that these forums have allowed me to do over the past few years is fire back at the media and public ridicule and abuse that have been heaped on the Carlton Football Club (whether its deserved or not I dont particularly care).

But when people abuse and ridicule the Carlton Football Club - I do tend to take it personally, sorry thats just me.

I don't know what I would have done over the past few years if I never had these outlets to 'rant' at those targetting an object I love only marginally less than my family.

Probably climbed up a bell tower with a sniper's rifle and let loose I guess. :P

When Carlton climbs back on top of the pile - and they will.

I will be celebrating with a fervour that has not been seen for quite some time and if the media including Caroline Wilson, Patrick Smith, Mike Sheahan et al - start spouting off in their pieces how great Carlton is I will give their pieces the same treatment I give their current pieces - and that is wrapping up my dog's droppings.

So thanks Jack - I just wanted to get that off my chest.

Everything is going swimmingly at Carlton. We are the best run club in the AFL. Football journalists should only write positive stuff about us.

One definition of 'naivety' - tendency to believe too readily and therefore to be easily deceived

What alot of people on this site do not understand is the difference between negativity and poisitivity.

Negative - Complaining about a problem and offering no solution. This is otherwise known as bitching. Fun at a pub on a Friday night, but offers nothing.

Positive - Complaining about a probem and offering a solution. Far harder to do, as you have to actually think. It can also be praising a result.

It is not Caro's job to be positive, but it would be good to see more of it on this board.

Think the board is doing a crap job? Absolutely no issues with posts on this, but offer solutions / ideas for improvement.

Ok...

1. Overthrow or replace half the board and in doing so bring in some of the money that certain big wigs have been holding back
2. Use this money and the new balance in power to sack the coach
3. Hire a full-time, dedicated football development manager
4. Sack Malouf - can't stand his nervous, unconvincing public persona
5. Replace Smorgon, he clearly lacked the gonads to do what had to be done regarding Pagan

Good post btw.

Great response. Don't totally agree, but at least people can debate the issues, and an alternative is presented.

I would like to see what this alternative ticket has to offer, and then make a decision based on their alternative. If a vibrant new board is on offer, you would be stupid not to go with it.

For me, a slightly strange example is Iraq. Yeah Saddam was bad, and the world is better off without him, but getting rid of him without a plan to replace him and deal with the power vacumn was ludicrous. Similar with the current board. If we oust them, we must have a good plan in place, post this.
