As we all know this excuse for a "Leader" is the chairman of Beyond Blue - the National Depression initiave as well as being the President of Hawthorn (the club which actively embraces mediocrity).

Who the hell does he think he is making a public statement about Brendan Fevola.

Does he know what mental state Brendan may be in at present?

Does he realise that the media frenzy could have a negative impact on Brendan's mental state or the mental state of members of Brendan's family?

Does he have any idea how his profile could have been used to slow down the media feeding frenzy which is occuring?

Doesn't he realise that his profile adds weight to the statement that he has made and that the fools who listen to / call up 3AW & Neil Mitchell can be easily egged on OR silenced by people with profile like him.

I called Hawthorn Football Club on (03) 9535 3000 and registered my complaint about their President adding to the current hype around this issue. I have also sent an email to them registering my complaint at hawthorn@hawthornfc.com.au about his stupid outburst on a topic which doesn't involve him.

This issue has nothing to do with Kennett or the Hawks, he should just try to keep quiet for once rather than once again opening his mouth and becoming a media tart.

Kennett is an A-grade dingbat, and is obviously going gaga due to relevance-deprivation syndrome between 1999 and 2005, but the work he has done with Beyond Blue is really admirable, and I respect him deeply for that work.

If he's made some tentative spurious link between the Fev incident and mental illness/depression/bipolar, then he's way out of line, and should learn from so many years of having his size 9s in his mouth, that shoe leather isn't the best taste.

Kennett made the claim on 3AW last night on "Sports Today" that he was called up by a reporter from 3AW on another issue entirely and at the end of the interview the reporter made a remark to the effect of 'isnt it terrible about Brendan Fevola'. Kennett assumed that what he then said about the issue was 'off the record' and that 3AW used his comments as the lead on the story for the rest of the day.

Jeffrey Gibb Kennett - you were the Premier of Victoria for 7 years were you not - and trained in the art of media, media spin and also constantly briefed by your media spin doctors to be on the look out for media beat ups and be on guard with respect to your comments.

Dont treat us like idiots with the "I thought my comments were off the record" defense.

If raising the profile of an issue were the only criteria then I'd agree but if you speak to a lot of people who work in mental health whilst overall they're grateful for the extra awareness Jeff's brought to the issue they hardly "respect him deeply for that work".

Until Jeff can realise that it's not his job to publicly diagnose every individual in the public eye without any personal knowledge of an individual's situation (not that it would be any better for him to be publicly diagnosing people even if he did have such knowledge) he'll forever remain a fool.

Jeff also seems pretty unaware of the fact that not every mental illness is, or is due to, depression and spends the bulk of his time jumping up and down like a cheerleader for his team.

There are thousands of amazing individuals all around the country who spend many more hours a week doing far more arduous work in mental health than Jeff could ever imagine and they're the ones I'll continue to respect deeply. Jeff will remain a relatively uninformed talking head from where I'm sitting.

MELBOURNE - Most of their supporters just don't deserve to see their team win a flag. Garry Lyon. But I like their die-hard supporters (all five thousand of them) and Daniher.

BRISBANE - Their new supporters don't get it. The old royboy supporters are good. They beat Essendon*, Collingwood, Collingwood in 3 straight grand finals. Respect.

SYDNEY - The old South Melbourne, my Dad's old team. Roos is great. So is Kirk. They play with passion and guts.

BULLDOGS - Woudn't begrudge them a Premiership or two while we're rebuilding. Love the way they play their footy - a REAL football club, unlike the Fremantles of this world.
