Glad to see Thornton posted at his correct height of 190cm. In the AFL season preview pocket guide he is posted as being 193cm.

correct height of 190cm? how is this so? if he is listed as 193cm then why would his real height be 3cm smaller? up close surely he is taller than 190. Plus isn't kouta 191cm, and wiggins and houlihan both 187cm instead of 186cm.

that is depressing, im 3cm shorter than eddie betts, but i did kick 5 against the bombers last week...

also ... if Fevola is 191 he may as well be 195.

He is shorter than me and im 191.

Hes be around 188 as he always was listed ...

I remember Thornton being 190 in 2002 when he was a rookie at 19yo, but remember recording his new height recorded at 192 in 2005.

Also in an interview with the o'hAlpin's last year, Aisake stated that he's reached 203cm and Setanta 199cm.

Scary thing is we lost this year

I expect all ruckmen recruited to this club to be a minimum 200cm and preferably 202cm.

The last 3 ruckmen we have recruited have been:

196 Ackland
196 McLaren
197 Bryan


Ruckmen are growing taller every decade and we are recruiting smaller...go figure.

For what it's worth I got the heights from The Age 2006 Footy magazine that came out in Feb 2006.

The only three players heights I changed, from my own knowledge, were Flint, Aisake and Kennedy.

Wasn't Kennedy listed at 195cm when he arrived - I had read (around other threads) he had grown 3cm. Which would make him 198cm. Or are you understating his height so the calls dont come out to throw him in the ruck.

i got the age 2006 footy magazine with every player in it etc and remember thornton being 193, kouta 191, wiggins and houlihan 187 etc. But this is only from memory, but i can go try and find the magazine to check. We are actually probably one of the tallest clubs in the AFL i would think now, just we lack some of the very tallest, lads over 200cm. But other than that we have many many tall players.

Cazzesman, as a recruiting guy, I hope you realise that we all shrink around 3 cms each day as our spines compress. Therefore there is a large difference if someone is measured in the morning or afternoon. Maybe this explains how Fev can suddenly grow from 188 to 191 at the ripe old age of 25.

It amuses me when people give a player’s height as say 194.7cm because clearly it is meaningless and demonstrates the person does not know what they are talking about.
