If there are changes (improvements) to the game style next year should that be attributed to primarily to the new coaching appointments rather the Denis who has had 4 years to implement a modern day working game style and failed? Interesting.

The new coaching appointments should help Pagan adopt a chnged/improved plan. Pagan would also be giving a fair bit of input into it as well.

You could look at it in reverse in that the coaching staff he had previously either accepted the playing style or where unwilling to make any changes as they were all "yes" men. The new appointments in general are not going to be yes men, they will bring about positive chnges in gameplan etc. Its about how Dennis embraces that positivity and chnage thats the key.

So the REAL nut & bolts work will be done by the assistants?

Easy gig this senior coaching business... $600k for....?

No it wont, but they will have an impact as they would in any AFL team. The Coach is the one who ultimately holds responsibility for what happens on the field, but the assistants have a role in shaping that as well.

I'm saying the assistants role should not be taken for granted, however given Pagans tenure its even more important for him to make change as well as be willing to consider the assistants ideas. I'm not confident Dennis has done this previously, but If he is fair dinkum about wanting to improve next season, then I can't see him having any other choice.

Someone forgot to tell that to the current board.

I think that we will improve in 2007.

Theres a bit of excitement in the first half of the season, but in the second, we will come back to the lower regions of the ladder, maybe finishing 12th.

Thats how I've read the recent posts by cazzesman and DOA on the positive feel of the playing group coming into preseason training - its not so much a pagan thing that has brought about the change in attitude but the new assistants. Of course my reading is probably clouded by my assesment of pagans previous years at the helm and they may choose to disagree with my assesment of the situation amongst the playing group (particularly cazzesman who has a vested interest)

I've only reported what I was told by one of the players after the first session. Nothing more nothing less. I suspect DOA reported what he was also told by his young fella. I didn't attend the session.

Regards Cazzesman

I can see us having a Hawthorn-esque season next year. Coming flying out of the blocks to win 4 or 5 quick ones (not necessarily in a row), before promptly dropping our bundle and losing a ton of games before papering over the whole mess with a few soft wins at the end of the year. With Pagan getting sacked somewhere along the way.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and see what difference the new coaching changes make though.

fair enough - thats all I expected either of you to have reported. Certainly not expecting any of you to come out and directly state anything negative about pagan though. You guys write what you see/hear etc and we posters form a viewpoint based on the comments themselves and surrounding information :)
