I know you only said this in jest Sparky - so I'm not having a go. This post is more for others who would echo your thoughts in a more serious manner. But as one of those people outside the loop - I think that the smoke and mirrors is good. It shows that the people involved are plotting and planning in a very concerted and considered fashion. When they come in they will know exactly what they are doing, and exactly what they want to do. They will have one hell of a blueprint for taking this club forward. And it will be really interesting to see who the 'names' are that come through on a new ticket. I don't have a problem in waiting two weeks to see who it is - and from the titbits given to us by some of the insiders on here - I have great confidence that we are really, really going to move forward.

Somebody on the 'inside' can tell the new ticket that they are more than welcome to give Pagan the flick though!

Either that Molly or there's a bunch of guys sitting in a room scratching their heads saying 'Well what are we supposed to do?'

It is getting a bit hard to listen to all the time lines given for the changes that themselves seem to change constantly.

I dont think there is any "loop"
I personally have heard very little but whats the point of spilling the beans early?
This needs to be done effectively and professionally without giving anyone a head start or the opportunity to disrupt the process.

I'm sure everyone would like to know all the details but I'd prefer to hear very little and see a smooth transition take place.

If the rumour I just read on TBV is correct, that person getting involved would be the greatest thing that could happen for Carlton. I spoke to a member of his family some time ago and asked if he would help the club, but at that stage he was involved with TVN. Now the mess with Sky Racing has been settled please let this be true.

Gee Josh,

you've come through with the goods again! On TBV you mention the possibility of 'cold feet'. Do you think there is still a chance it won't go ahead?

Big man in more ways than one...

Harold's career in advertising started at 17 when he left the Victorian country town of Stawell for Melbourne with £2 in his pocket and found a job as an office boy in an ad agency. At 24, he became the media manager at USP Needham, and by the time he was 33 he was running the media buying operations of Masius Wynne Williams, Australia's third-biggest ad agency.

In 1976 he opened Mitchell & Partners, now the largest independently owned media buying agency in Australia, of which he remains chairman and sole owner. It was one of the first media specialist agencies in the world, Mitchell & Partners services the interests of over 50 advertising agencies with 500 clients and group advertising billings of $1 billion with offices in Australia and New Zealand.

In 1999 he expanded the scope of the Australian media specialist into the newly evolving internet with the launch of Emitch, a specialist Internet planning and buying arm of Mitchell and Partners. This is now a major Australian internet company of which the Mitchell family own 40%.

A collector of clocks and hats, Harold is best known for his generosity of time. He has just recently retired as president of the Asthma Foundation of Victoria.

Harold is actively involved in the Arts. In 2001 Harold was appointed President of the Museum Board of Victoria which has responsibility for the new Melbourne Museum Centre, Scienceworks and the Immigration Museum.

He is Director of Opera Australia and chairs the Development Committee. He has played a significant role in raising development funds by 300% to $6.5 millions per annum.

In 1998 the Minister for the Arts, Senator Richard Alston invited Harold to join the Board of the Council of the National Gallery of Australia in a significant year for the gallery, with the $5 million purchase of David Hockney's Grand Canyon. He now chairs the development committee for the National Gallery.

Harold retired as President of the Melbourne Festival in December 2001 after 8 years of board service.

Harold lives in the town of St. Andrews on the outskirts of Melbourne with wife Beverley and has two children Stuart, a director of Mitchell and Partners and Amanda, a television researcher.

In January 2004 he was awarded the Officer of the Order of Australia for his services as a benefactor and fundraiser in support of artistic and cultural endeavour.
