Good to see this back up. I fail to see how this thread could be in any way detrimental to the Carlton Football Club, even if *shudders in fear* a journalist might read it.

The $64 question. Seems that some were happy to reveal they were in the know and then suddenly they are worried that those behind a challenge might back out if the media get wind of it before they hammered out the details. This I do not get. One would assume these people have the best interest of the CFC at heart and not their own media profile. Do we think Smorgon and co would not know a challenge is in the wind? It's not as though we are in a war and planning a sneak attack here. If those wanting to take over would be scared over the media getting wind off it too early and might reconsider their challenge, then I'm afraid serious doubts would then have to be held about their commitment in the first place.

We want 100% all in and hang the circumstances, not softly softly, lurking around corners type stuff. Sure a bad news media storm is undesirable but they don't have to turn it into one if the media comes a-calling. Perhaps the key personnel have not actually agreed to do this yet and that is why names shouldn't be mentioned, if the saviours have yet to commit.

It all seems a little strange to me. Either it is or it isn't. Maybe doesn't fill me with confidence that there is 100% commitment to the cause.

Unfortunately for you.. thats la la land stuff. and thats not how the real world operates .

You sant tell me for sure what youre eating tomorrow night for dinner... even if you think you do right now...
So if something as inconsequential as your din din tomorrow night isnt secure.. why should important matters be??

And yes it will go down...probably......!!!

You know Synbad, if you weren't actually 'in the know', I'd have doubts over your ability to debate any point. 'Head in the sand', 'la la land', 'din din'. It's all about big noting and patronising from where I sit.

Inconsequential stuff does not need to be set in stone because it doesn't affect too much. Big time stuff does need to have some sort of commitment about it. My dinner plans can be changed at a whim because it affects nothing. I have no need to commit to them as it affects only me.

I'll ask the question again though. Why would someone committed to resurrect this club do an about face because their name came out too early. What exactly would they be afraid of?

What I am gauging here is that some Blues powerbrokers are behind the scenes trying to convince some high profile person to come on board, trying to get firm commitments of money from other supporters, trying to come up with an unbeatable platform for the ticket to get up. It is not telling me that this high profile leader is chomping at the bit to get in if they have to be courted all this time. It is not telling me that our problems could be easily sorted by competent people, therefore telling me that the job is not as easy for the current board as some seem to think it should be.

I will reiterate, I am not opposed to change and I will support ultimately whoever is running the club after the AGM as it is in the clubs best interests to do so. I'm under no illusions that there is a miracle cure for our problems arising out of all these back room talks. Sure money can come in and erase the debt ... doesn't take an awful lot of thought to do that though. Just means some people are withholding money right now over personality issues.

ODN I'm not in the know as such be it is quite clear to all and sundry whenever there is a major decision to be made at Carlton these days it is done under the guidance of the AFL. Just maybe the new ticket is going to strike quickly and bloodlessly so that the AFL cannot interfere and stop the process like was done with the Pagan ticket and they a have already made it clear that they would not accept Fraser Brown on a board .

I have a hunch the AFL love being in control of Carltons destiny

So you are suggesting that Fraser wants to be on the board or someone else that the AFL have issues with would be on the board? If not, the AFL can do diddly squat about it. If so, and if the money is coming in, the AFL could do diddly squat about it.

The erasing of the club’s debt would be great and it would obviously be a boost for our financial problems.
At the end of the day though, what I think the club really needs first and foremost is the right person (or group of people) with a long term vision (and resultant plan) for the club and the skills and drive to implement it.
That is exactly what Eddie has done for Collingwood and it is exactly what we need. First and foremost. Give me the right leader a long way before you give me a pile of cash.

How about you cut the shit and concentrate on the questions? Not everything is about making yourself feel better.

No but I would give it to the detox unit to get my brother off smack. Isn't that what we are talking about here?

Exactly ... what is it? From either side? Seems it takes time to formulate and there are many variables and changes in circumstance. My only point here is that it does take time to come up with a solid plan. The things I have seen written on the various forums would suggest that the supporters themselves could walk in and do the job, something I sincerely doubt.

my my my youre becoming grumpy .....

No what is the business plan im asking you!!!

Dont worry about the people looking to get in... they havent had FOUR YEARS yet...

so whats the business plan???

Anything sticking out for you to recognise about what this administration is attempting to do to turn this club around???

So if there is no business plan... why would anyone give them money???
What will they do with the money if there is no recognisable business plan???

Which succesful corporation opr businessman identifies an organisation with no businessplan to give money to???

And say you did give money to an organisation with no businessplan what do you expect will happen to the money???

And if the head of that organisation is one of the ten richest men in this country why isnt he investing in his own organisation???

Does your head in doesnt it???

Doesnt do my head in....

And you are becoming a condescending so and so who evades anything he doesn't want to answer. Ugly supporter syndrome.

Wait a second, aren't you the insider who knows all? Or do you only know the scraps that you are told as you hang around the people who are looking to do something productive?

Mate, as you keep pointing out to me, what can I see from Queensland? I'm happy to wear the label too but let it never be said I can't recognise someone prone to patting himself on the back on a regular basis.

Off on your own tangent again? Haven't we been lead to believe that the money will flood in if Smorgon is ousted? So the natural question is why are they still trying to shore up these pledges? These rumours have been around for a while now. Has the commitment to pay this money not been quite as solid as it was originally touted? I didn't say anything about money coming in to the current administration.

Is that why the money still needs to be shored up for the new ticket? Because the business plan is still being worked on?

Big on this issue it seems. Pity it isn't one that I raised.

I thought he did?

Quite a few members of the TC community could go blind if the topic of this thread comes off

Though many have already spent themselves (many times) over in the G-i-b-b-s thread :-D
