Time to put footy fans' attitudes in a headlock

When it comes to calling a spade a spade, we talk the talk but we no longer walk the walk. If we did, we would more readily apply a quintessentially Australian term that accurately describes so many AFL players, and that can certainly be applied to Brendan Fevola — thug.

This on the opinon pages of the Age. Definitely a bad news week.

Jim Schrembri is a film critic for The Age.... looks like he's trying to branch out into opinion pieces.

And a film critic who knows nothing about films. Some years back he apologised for his woeful attempts at film criticism with the Age Green Guide, claiming he'd been put in the job but knew nothing about films, so true to form the Age make him critic in the EG and then drop the letters to the editor part of EG because he got so many hammering him

He also reckons Airforce One with Harrison Ford is the best film made in the 90s...

No bullshit!

Try reading some of his "Modern Fables" some time. The only thing enlightening about them is the way they expose his complete and utter lack of talent.

He must have something seriously nasty on a Fairfax board member. :?

Fevola stepped off the plane last night and presented the media with a pre-written apology. He seemed genuinely sorry and honest. No further questions for the cameras.

He then spent time signing autographs and having photos taken with fans.

Well done Fev, you played this return well.

Golden Rule in crisis management: Give the media something to take back to their editors and to stop them hounding you. Even 5 mins of nothing can make the world of difference.

Sure the media will be there for his first training run, but Fev has defused the story.

Well done, big fella...

Given AD's penchant for minimal PR damage and maximum corporate spin it is no surprise he has gagged the whole squad. Funny thing is he didn't get to Raines in time!

What did Raines say Marci?

Pretty much endorsed Fev's comments about the abuse and possible racial slurs. Cant remember verbatim but he reinforced that the players are copping it over there and he was at the casino when some heavy taunts were thrown towards the playing group. Something along those lines. Seen it a couple of times on the various news

Exactly right. I heard Raines comments on the news a day or so after this all blew up. I am just so surprised that no one else seems to have. I also knew that Fev had said that none of the Aboriginal boys were there at the time of the racial comments. But it seems Andy either did not hear exactly what Fev had said or he chose to ignore it and made an example out of Fev.
So the question is. Just who is the liar in all this?

Was a good response from Fevola, particualrly making time for autographs and photos. Good work!
