But Mitchell said last night he wouldn't become involved in any rival ticket.

"I love the Carlton Football Club and I've been a lifelong supporter, but I won't be part of any ticket to unseat the current board," he said.

"It's not my style and I will never be a director or president of Carlton. I'm happy to support the club and would be happy to help in some way, but not at board level."

Mitchell was being wooed by club supporters who saw him as a potential replacement for president Graham Smorgon.

With Mitchell off the radar, there is now a concerted push to attract other prominent Carlton identities.

 TC? What have you done? DIE!!!!

Yeah. It was me. We should've gotten rid of Diggins back in April...I'm not sure why exactly, but you know...that was all the rage back then. You JJJ should've maintained it!!

We can cross Harold Mitchell's name off the list of prospective board members/directors. There is an article by Jim Wilson in the Herald Sun stating that he is not interested in being a board member of carlton.

He seriously considered it but though himself abit on the old side.

Will 'weigh in' in other ways...

I'm not sure if Synbad or any of the others can answer this, but I'll ask anyway.

The picture I'm getting is there are a bunch of influential individuals running around behind the scenes trying to get others to run for the board. This isn't driven by an individual who wants to step up and run the club, it's driven by a group who can't/don't want to/shouldn't do it themselves. They might have significant money, backing, but for whatever reason aren't going to step up and are looking for people who will?

Is that correct? I know things are going to be more complex than that in reality, but is that the general idea of what's going on?

So is it all on, or is it on the back burner again?

I was so disappointed when I read what Italian Styles had to say that there would be a few new guys come on to help out some of the older hands, and that four people would go from what is currently there. One or two new names isn't going to help - there needs to be a fresh broom. Is the fresh broom on the way or not?

This sounds all to familiar to me - back in the dark days of 2002 there was a angry mob who dubbed themselves to be The Unofficial Selection Committee who had some influence on Elliott being outed they searched high and low and eventually decided to back Collins as he was the only half decent candidate who put his hand up.

This smells and awful lot like that was.

We dont want any relucant hero's this time

Are we lacking a frontman and crew to make up a new board, everyone of these movers and shakers seem to want be in the background but their backers cant find director material to work at the coalface?

For what it's worth, Smorgon and Malouf are meeting with a small group of supporters in the next couple of weeks...

Is this like the meeting they had with a bunch of hand picked journos recently?
