Wouldn't read too much into it, he isn't going to exactly come out and say what Fantasy land said, is he?

Although it's good nonetheless :-D

Such a good article.

Loved the bit where a Port Adelaide bloke roughed him up a bit and the other Glenelg boys wanted to pay the bloke back. But GIBBS just told them not to worry about it and get on with the game.

Leadership.

Right there.

will it be ripped down and torn into shreds if we take someone else?

Not a chance, Nicky boy.

Saw Jackie Epstien out today... she had basically confirmed that Gibbs would be #1 and that Sticks said "I prefer you to the woman down the road" (Caro)

:-D

Renouf was labelled by Kevin Sheehan as a player who can play in a key position in the section referring to the other top prospects.

Yet there wasn't one mention of Gumbleton.

All of this reminds me of the 1990 Draft when Jason McCartney was all the rage to be taken at No.2 by us; as Geelong had "secured"Steven Hooper at No.1 pick ....(WHO?)

For a month before; all the talk was about Jason and Carlton being as thick as thieves up in Nhill; and how Jason was rapt to be going to PP.

Come the Draft; and we took James Cook from Tassie in the shock of the Draft!.....Jason went to Collingwood who were rapt.

It was a very ordinary draft though....we also picked up Damien Hampson at Pick 7; and of the rest....

The Eagles picked Matt Clape at 9 and Richmond grabbed Nick Daffy at 49.
Clape got" better", think we took him at no.6. improved 3 spots. Those were the days of drafting, although he did have a couple of good seasons for us, especially 1995.

Nope.

Clape went from selection 9 in the National Draft in 1990.

... to selection 13 in the Pre-Season Draft in 1995.

People always point at how late in the draft Hird went but I distinctly remember an article saying how clever Essendon* had been in hiding him away from other clubs.

We picked up a pretty good player in the following years draft around pick 75 - but he turned out to be a turd.
