cant be bothered with the reasons but hey this is what I think. Agree or disagree please. Obviously the way footy is played these days players can just about play every position in one game but this is where these players are best suited.

With Fisher's kicking, we can't afford to play him at half back. Turn overs coming out of defence kill teams these days.

Russell should probably play as a running defender with some time in midfield. Like Walker not a natural ball-winner yet, needs to learn from playing tight on good players.

Hartlett probably doesn't have the motor to play centre half back. More likely to get a go at full back with Livingston's delisting.

Carrazzo will need to play as a defensive small as well at times. We don't currently have a lot who can do this effectively on our list at the moment. (Here's hoping we pick up Brock O'Brien at 17 or 19.)

Walker on ball as well.

Definitely. Time to release walker into the midfield.

Carrazzo played a game last year (against Hawthorn?) out of a forward pocket, and did really well. Marked everything that came his way, and his timing on his leads was excellent. Let himself down badly with his kicking for goal though. Was surprised that they didn't play him there again.

No surprise really when you consider that one of his deliberate set shots at goal was about 20 metres out and he didn't make the distance.

But put him hard on the boundary with no visible daylight between the sticks - no problem.

Still see a few problems with our team with no standout for the back pocket or first ruck and a general changing of the guard.

I think Wiggins may get a go in the back pocket as he probably has more pace than the other contender in Carrazzo. Both have a fierce attack on the ball ands both have problems with disposal on occasions so Wiggo's superior pace may get him the role. I'm not sure if Bentick has more pace than Wiggo and I think with Murphy etc in the midfield then Bentick feeding it out is an important part of the mix. Perhaps Jackson if he gets elevated could be a chance in the back pocket?

There are some options for either the third tall defender or CHB but doubts over the fitness of Hartwell and Saddington and Carlos still learning the role may mean Whitnall is probably the first selection. Waite is an option but has not played a lot in defence and it may be too steep a learning curve. Perhaps Kennedy and Whitnall can interchange between CHF and CHB? It may also take some of the pressure off Josh.

Carrazo: Bullants/Bench

Might get a bit of stick for it but seriously I just don't rate him as highly as others. I think he is just about the worst kick in our team which is saying something!!

Yeah I know all the romance of working hard and getting on 2 rookie lists and establishing himself but to be frank IMO we'll be a good team when Carrazzo is nothing more than a depth player for us.

Agree - he'll battle to keep his spot with Murphy fit, Gibbs, Hartlett, Bower and Setanta.

We still won't have the best back 6 in the comp, but it will be better for not having Carrazzo there.

Carazzo is still our best bet at back pocket. We can fool ourselves all we like but thats his best position unless his kicking and finishing dramatically improves.
