LOL - I'd go along with it just to see the reaction of a couple of my football friends. They are stressing over the fact Wiggins will soon have his name on the locker - haha, their reaction to him being made captain would be priceless!!!

He should be playing somewhere in the forward line. He can and has proven he can kick alot goals even though it was back in the days when he last kick a bag of goals in a season. In saying this I do not excuse him for being over weight and an overpayed player however he did have some bad injuries including one when he had Fevola rip into the back of him and did his shoulders. By the time we have this footy club sorted out properly Whitnall will be long gone retired. Our troubles run deep as you know and have stated.

I think his best position is CHF, but for team purposes, CHB.

I also think he is the best canditate for captain. Who do you think should be?

Well with Lance being out of the forward line full time for a few years whether he has been injured or back in defence, he can and has proven he can kick goals?! Hope taht made sense.

It would be great to play Waite at CHB. But can Waite play CHB? Question is will Pagan do it so Lance can play in the forward line? A loose role is teh way to go with Lance as he can certainly read and set up the play better than most in our team.[/quote]

Pagan actually said in one of the post game press conferences last season that he wants to try Waite at CHB, but the injury to Kennedy has delayed that.

Personally, I wish he'd have tried him there at the end of the season, could easily have moved Whitnall forward.

Waite has the size and athleticism to play CHB, and the discipline needed to play there may actually be good for him (in a similar way to the way it refocused Kouta in the late 90s). And if he could play the role, it would be a massive positive. We can afford to not have him forward, and it would release Whitnall to go forward (or play loose across half back). It would be another step to a strong, attacking backline, with Thorton, Setanta, and hopefully at least one of Hartlett and Bower giving height and size back there.

I definitely do not think he is an outstanding canditate, and it does reflect the lack of talent and leadership in the core 24-28 age group. This isn't surprising though when you read the thread on our best / worst draft under recruitment.

He is the best option though.

We should have a revolving capataincy till someone bobs up that is captaincy material.
While everyone is training for next year.. Lance is on a bike.. because his body is falling apart.
Last year he started training late as well.. and even with that short spell at full pelt couldnt see out the year...

And he might be a forward but the clubs future is not in a player like Lance...

Like i dont mind players being loose across half back.. but i prefer someone who can springboard the ball forward by running it and kicking off more than one step!

Why does Lance kick the ball off one step??
Is it because he is too slow to get back quickly enough and give it a ping properly..???.. or is it cos he is lazy....???

either way he is no MCLeod /Johncock/Hodge etc.

I dont like seeing kids taking the big names while our senior players bludge chasing cheap kicks.

Id like to see it go the other way so they can set an example...
I want to see the pressure come off some of the kids from time to time and allow them the creativity to play attacking footy...

No they cant...Lance Lappin Stevo etc have those roles all tied up while blokes like TBird get the big strong power forwrads and Walker gets the brownlow medalists week in week out.

Now thats ok... but if these kids know nothing but defensive roles in a shocking side... they will have their brillkiance blunted and they will be burnt.. while the senior players bludge across half back gathering nothing possies...

Senior players at other sides get REAL roles... kids get a variety of roles..

thats how it should work... but not at Carlton...!!!
