I just hope for the spruikers are backing the right horse, as opposed to 5 mins of fame, because there's alot of water to go under the bridge...and if no group, including the current board have no commtiment to the 2002 PP claim (if not for anything but just to show thay've got balls to have a go for this club's advantage), then suck on my gums (wimps).

Your making a big assumption that all here on TC are not happy with the board . I actually think the board has been quite clever and calculating with some of the stuff that has gone on in the off season and we are just to blind to see it .

Its not easy trying to sell an image that is under performing like we have been despite what Synbad and the Pizza makers think .

So far this off season there has been hardly a day where Carlton hasn't been in the media be it good or bad publicity . Whats the old saying any publicity is good publicity . Most bad news items have been hidden with a good news annoucement several hours before .

and the Pagan sacking /non sacking situation was probably the cleverest way to make it known to a man who has been out of control that we are all dispensible and it doesn't matter who you are .

the constant manipulation of Caro and the clever use of Jim Wilson from the Hun to basically refute everything Caro writes

The non action taking against Fev and ensuing he went back to Ireland to clear the matter - basically telling the AFL to get stuffed and showing them how things should have been handled

The Pagan fiasco was actually part of a cunning plan?

Look, I have no doubt the individuals on the current Board all are doing the best they can, and I applaud them for coming forward when no-one else would ... but the evidence is there that despite their best efforts, they are falling a long way short of what is needed.

and bondiblue, I have no doubt regarding the reliability of the info from the various relatively independent people who have all given consistent indications hinting at what is happening behind the scenes ... I thank them for their info, and applaud them for maintaining the confidences.

and while I may not agree with all the various opinions they express, I do know which posters have proven to have access to reliable info, and the message from them is relatively clear here.

Time will tell whether the plans come to fruiton or not.

It took the board 3 years to come out and say they are in the process of making a plan. They've been in there long enough and have failed in every department. Their plan is to play the victim card to get members but it got old after the first year. Companies don't want to sponsor organisations that can only stick their hand out and cry for help. The other Smorgo at the Bulldogs would be thinking imagine those clowns were in my position, the doggies would be dead.

Not at all, but dont assume that everyone does the same.
Some posters come on TC and I barely bother reading their posts but that doesnt mean I discount everyone.
I've met several posters or related to others over the years on the net and you soon gain a feeling for who's full of shit.

I've met Synbad and i know for a fact who his sources are. Josh has told me who his sources are. I know a few posters who are relatives of players and others who have official/unofficial roles within the club.
Lets not assume that everyone is full of shit because some are.

If they do have a business plan, its not worth the paper it's written on.
I was fortunate enough to sit in on a meeting 18 months ago where Malouf outlined the clubs financial situation to some corporate supporters.
He explained to those in attendance where the cub would be financially situated by the end of the 06 season.
IMHO, We are so far removed from those fanciful projections atm that I fear for their competence.
If they cant successfuly implement a 12 month business plan, how will they go with 5 years?
We are making it up as we go along.

As someone who has met Smorgon and Malouf often, let me tell you they are lovely blokes.
They would be OK in a club which was stable and needed to be "steered along".

Are they capable of running this football club? Not a chance.

I, for one, do believe through the info given by various posters, that "someone" is working towards a challenge to the current board.

I'm not going to hang my hat on the "today is the day" info, as so many times before we have seen hurdles appear that interrupt a timetable.

Mind you, if they can't get their act together before Xmas, I'd have to question their abilities.

We are talking about SB's opinion that the current board are doing things well during the offseason. Whether that is true or not, my question is how can that opinion be exposed if the current board will no longer be there soon?

Will the new board go in, find a memo from Smorgon stating that he has no plan or a book titled 'Spin For Dummies' and reveal that to us? The reality is that whatever plan they have or don't have will be taken over by the vision of a new board.

Let's remember that putting money in donated by many benefactors is not a plan. Takes a lot of dollars but not too much sense.

When Terry Wallace went to Richmond, he inherited a plethora of early draft picks along with players taken early in previous years. The players develop naturally, Wallace is thought of as the messiah who has rebuilt Richmond while Spud was a Dud. I'd suggest that Spud laid some of the foundation for Wallace to come in and look better than he otherwise might.

If the current board and the current coaching panel have laid no foundations, then the new board will take some time to turn it around, injection of money not withstanding. I would like to know if that is the case ahead of time ... keeping it real, tempering expectations and all. Right now, I feel like we are awaiting the second coming of Jesus Christ and would rather not get that carried away.

Anyway, I'm waffling. In summary, how can this 'spin' of the past couple of months be proven as such once the board is gone?
