I dont really mind who gets the job as long as they share the dream and spirit that Carlton needs to get to the top.
Dont forget it was Nick Stevens who paid for the younger boys to go up and stay in Sydney for round 22. Great guy.

and that thing in the paper about the little boy he and his partner were helping.

so there's no doubt he's a great guy, we could even say he's a great player (for our club's standards anyway) but is he a good enough leader? i think he is and i'd like the captain to be chosen out of either him or lance and like most other people would like to see murph get the job in a couple of years.

I agree, making Whitnall captain would be a BIG mistake

The guy that impresses me most and who was added to the leadership group last year is Kade Simpson. No negatives about Simmo, no body language problems, no dummy spits, always tries his guts out.

Can't say the same about Fev, Puss, Skinny or Scotto. Lance would be okay but he can be a liability match-up wise.

Good point RR. Can you see the Club being so bold as to give that role to Simmo? And would it be a problem to give him the captaincy with Murphy an heir apparent in 2-3 years time?

Apart from his many positive attributes a good thing about Simmo as a potential captain is that he can pull off something rather brilliant to inspire the troops. This is my main fear for Whitnall as captain if played in defence. If played up forward I can believe in it a little more.

Agree also RR, even though I want Lance as captain over Stevens or Fev.

Whoever out of Lance, Stevens and Fev gets it, I dont want the other two to be Vice Captains, give those positions to Simmo, Murphy or Walker etc the next generation needs to be prepared to take it on in two years or so.

that's what i was thinking too, i'd love for simmo to get the job next year but the problem with that is when murph is ready in 2 or 3 years time simmo is still only going to be 25 or 26 and its not gonna do his confidence any good if we take the captaincy off him whereas with stevo or lance they'll be late 20's and ready to pass it on.
