Lots of talk about Smorgon - should he stay - should he go? Clearly the board is divided. I say go - and go now - waste of space.

Until such time a suitable candidate steps up offers a plan for the future then Smorgan should stay .

Much like when Collo was elected no one other the Lorraine wants the job - Smorgan is prepared to do it so keep him there untils someone steps up.

But I bet that doesn't happen until we are knocking on the door of the eight

You know the really scary thing? If Smorgon got hit by a bus this morning, the man he's putting forward as our Vice President would suddenly be our leader. This is Simon Wilson.

So a quick word to any carlton-supporting bus drivers out there - as hopeless as smorgon is, and as much as you'd like to see the back of him, DON'T DO IT.

Oh yes, the question: It's hard to know what the hell's going on. If Smorgon resigned on Tuesday night, who'd be the new president? Admittedly, even a paperweight would probably do a better job, but jeez - you'd think that challenging this pack of fools would be the easiest gig in the world.

Yet no takers...

I dont think he is wonderful but the poll is schewed as there is no other candidate. Bad set of questions.

Not that easy when they are doing dirty deals between the 5 of them over who is going to be Vice President (Simon Wilson - give me a break!!!), who gets this perk, who gets to go to that function etc. This is a group of 5 people who clearly put the interests of themselves well and truely above the interests of the club.

That's what I'm worried about.

With each day that passes I'm getting more worried that the challengers have not got the desire or the will to follow through. Hopefully it is just impatience on my part and nothing more than that.

It is obvious from the letter that has been sent out that the plan of the current board is to anticipate that improved performances on the field will improve the financial position of the club and no other work will be done to increase revenues over and above what the deeds of the players and football department bring through the gate.

Surely any candidates out there who offer a plan and personnel to bring in revenue over and above the 'plan' already set out would have enough confidence in the strength of their position to take decisive action sooner rather than later.

I agree. I propose that the questions be amended to give us the option of voting for said paperweight in preference to Smorgan. Then it will be a more balanced survey since he will have an opponent.

Greg Lee would have been president if Smorgon had of fallen onto his sword..

and he would have had the backing of alot of money...

I'm just about resigned to the fact that we'll be stuck with Smorgon & co for a few more years yet. No large cash injection to allieviate the financial pressure in the short term. They're placing all their chips on the kids to come good over the next few years and hoping ( ) the non-member supporters jump on board and join up.
So, best case scenario IMO is it will be quite a few years of kissing AD's arse and penny pinching on a low budget (ala North, Bulldogs).

If the kids can't get us up the ladder and get the membership up, look out for full relocation somewhere or a merger in about 3 or 4 years time.

At the moment he seems to be being challenged by Lauraine Diggins who no-one on this site seems to like. Also does anyone actually know anything about Simon Wilson other than that he's a QC. So many people on here seem to 'know' people are hopeless ie anyone on the current board or 'great' - anyone not on the current Board. There is lots of talk of plans. Any challenger needs to show some plans and put their hands up. I'm not sure that the current squabblers on the board will be much better. What did the Who say: "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" . We seem to be hearing lots of unqualified assertion about what will happen some Friday so show me the money (and the plan and the people). Another faction of the Board taking over will solve nothing.

Someone just has to get Smorgon out of the club - one or more of the board members that swayed with Smorgon on Tuesday night needs to be swayed the other way so change can happen.

What's with that prick Smorgon - tripper
