Sorry Mordan for trying to look at his year objectively. You are right. Whitnall was by far the best player for Carlton this year and was given all the difficult jobs in defence against A grade players such as Neitz, Rocca, Barry Hall, Brad Johnson, Matthew Pavlich, Quinten Lynch and Nick Riewoldt etc.. The matches I watched must have just been an aberration.
Fevola - in the meantime - always had to play against the opposition's worst defender.... or maybe not?
There was nothing objective about your analysis. You found something that didn't lead to the outcome you wanted and just ignored it. Beating Lucas is somehow expected for a best and fairest winner and thus doesn't count.
If you bothered to do an objective analysis, rather than cherry picking games you like then you might have seen Whitnall beat Barry Hall as well. One of the players in your list above of players you think he should be playing on and beating.
And did you even read what I wrote? Nowhere did I say that Whitnall was by far the best player for Carlton this year. I'm not championing Whitnalls efforts this year, I'm just pointing out that there is nothing "objective" and balanced about your work there. You clearly set out to prove a point and went looking for evidence to back that up, while ignoring anything else.
