Sydney no one is arguing that we're on the nose.

the issue is how to take the Club forward. Is it:

* Through the Status Quo
- Under a man who seems to use PR firms to issue nonsense statements
- Is a bit on the nose with a few of us for not creating any new ideas to assist the Club in a time of crisis
- Seems intent on limiting our exposure to the media
- Is rumoured to be on the nose with some benefactors who could help to repay our massive, and increasing debt
- Seems happy that we are forecast to have a cash loss despite 32,000 members and costs cut to the bone

or

* Through a rumoured new faction which will help to repay the debt
- May or may not have any new ideas

Its the cash injuection and new direction that entices.

2006 was a complete write-off and someone must accept responsibility. The Coach wont / hasn't, the CEO wont / hasnt and where does the Board stand? Well, it stands divided - more of the same or bring some others in with some $?

Mols I dont beleive for one minute that there are wealthy benefactors waiting in the wings to tip money into the club as soon as Smorgan goes , I think that is an utter fabrication . The only person who supposed to have offered up money was Brown to get rid of Pagan and the club was faced with excepting Browns $600k or losing Demispews 1.5 mill and choose the later .

If the so called rebels can get better sponsorship deals than the current board then why doesn't one of them do it - why dont they come forward and say here we have ex amount of $ - There not because they dont have it - This spill is being driven by a bunch of digruntled supporters who have no Collins to fall back on no one to lead them to the promise land . There is nothing behind them otherwise they would put it out there for all to see. They are trying to get their hands on a report to shame the board instead of showing us all what they can do.

It is Bullshit of the highest order . I am by no means a fan of this board but to me the alternative at this stage is a bigger rabble .

smorgan has tried to implement some sort of plan-
He has shaken up Pagan
He insured we dont have a bullants side stack we recycled players
He is trying to promote the club

The aternative is sitting back pointing the finger and saying we have the money to put things straight and dont produce nothing .

frankly I'm getting a bit tired of the whole thing it seems that everyone that who has worn a Navy blue suit gets touted as a potential savour only to quickly distance themselves as soon as their names are linked with the club.

I also disagree he is limting are exposure to the media - There is hardly a day goes by where Carlton is not in the Press

He's of the opinion that now is not the ideal time as now = bloody coup. Bruce is highly intelligent and passionate about the Carlton Football Club...however he's also extremely loyal. I wouldn't mind betting that if he's given Smorgon his word that he wouldn't stab him in the back Caeser style - then that's as good as gospel.

I'm of the opinion that Bruce Mathieson is waiting for an inevitable 'fall on sword' from Smorgon; and on his return to Melbourne - might have a word in order for this to happen to clear the path for others to make a smooth transition. That's the way Bruce Mathieson does business - that's the way i see it happening...the Mathieson move north is permanent from Christmas - by which time a new president will be installed and those in the background are merely waiting for a green light from the pokie king for this to happen.

Graham Smorgons rule will not see the year 2007. mark my words.

Now bring on the draft....

This has been the doctor's diagnosis all along ...

So much cloak and dagger.

Kind of reminds me of the movie, The Prestige, where the magicians get their thrills by unveiling an unexpected twist to their trick.

What twist awaits the CFC?

Yes, Tuesday's board meeting could officially have been the beginning of the end.
If he stays a few more years and this next 'plan' fails and we're still languishing, AD will relocate or merge us I reckon.

I don't like the lack of details, and the questionable financials, and the constant bad press budzy, but don't you think the next 'plan' being on-field success is pretty likely? I think our young list is looking pretty special - and after Saturday it will be even more so, but if you think about a very promising young Blue team of:

B: Russell Carlos xxxx
HB: Bower Thornton Walker
C: Simpson Murphy xxxx
HF: Waite Kennedy xxxx
F: Betts Fevola xxxx
R: Ackland xxxx Blackwell

(All 24 or under - excludes Stevens, Whitnall and Houlihan as 'young vets')

And any of this years picks + Jackson, Flint and we have a rollicking chance of being good in the years to come. I think Plan A will see medium term success, no doubt at all. The issue to me is more about how long we have to suffer for, how excruciatingly painful our Board shenanigans have become and whether there is any competing group that can put their hands up to force the issue.

Even without that, I dont doubt we'll make the finals in 2009. The quality of our kids will get us there, even if nothing else does.

I agree that our list is improving and starting to look good BUT will we gain back all that lost ground on the other teams to be a top 8 side in 3-4 years?
As you’d be well aware, living in the poor house affects a lot of things INCLUDING player development.

By deciding to stay, Smorgon has ensured CFC will remain in the poor house for at least the next 3 -4 years kissing AD’s arse (compromising our independence), thus restricting a lot of much needed funds to boost CLUB development.

Will the large non-member supporter base that Smorgon is hoping will get back on board still be around then IF we haven’t gained enough lost ground on the rest of the competition?
It’s one hell of a gamble by our illustrious leader Mr. Smorgon …a totally unnecessary gamble.

I’m seriously worried.

If Smorgon is a ‘Carlton person’, he should go ASAP.

Well I guess that's it then. If there's no problem I should have no cause for concern.

Other than writing a letter to him to be responded to by Carlton Communications, does anyone know a more direct way of contacting Mr.Smorgon?

Request a meeting through his secretary.
