When the time comes and if you are feeling unsatisfied with where this club stands right at this minute and where this club is heading .. i would urge you to make an effort... vote... and make sure your friends vote.

Vote for who? The problem is that the only imaginations that have been captured for a new ticket, have occurred on internet forums. It is fair to say that this new saviour ticket are starting way behind the 8 ball here. I can sense the anxiety that this is all going pear shaped based on Smorgon's jockeying, but it is hard to ask the majority to vote for something they have not seen yet.

Best to keep the campaign for when they do show themselves IMO. I mean, we are calling to see what the new board members business plans are, but we have not seen one for the rival ticket everybody is getting so excited about.

We have heard from Tom Elliott so far but he alone can't get the job done.

It is also a little disconcerting that this is all about to happen with an assured confidence, and every meeting and every action by Smorgon seems to make the new ticket insiders explode with rage, like he has just one upped them unexpectedly.

I've been of the impression that anybody coming into the club, bringing a suitcase full of cash to erase our debt, would win hands down. The fact that this is looking closer than expected, suggests that the cash might not be all there perhaps??? I don't know, I'd vote for Donald Duck as president if he erased the debt and if he was incompetent, call for an EGM and offload him after a year.

So, I guess my question is ... is the money being injected straight into the club or is the erasing of the debt more to do with believing they have a plan to erase the debt?

The ousting of the Smorgon faction should have been organized & completed by Christmas.
Leaving a members vote till an AGM strategically scheduled on the eve of the new season has/will allow Smorgon to shore up his support and run a major fear/scare campaign based on “instability prior to a new seasonâ€

Ideally Bruce wants ALL Carlton heavy hitters to put there hand in pocket and donate an equal amount to assist the club.

The heavy hitters haven't spoken to the club at all about assisting.

On the new board, he hasn't heard anything concrete but would support a new board coming in IF they had the money behind them, substantial money at that.

He also said the Club has improved significantly from 4 years ago, but is still along way from West Coast, Adelaide and Collingwood and that we need to not only match them, but pass these clubs.

It was the most reasoned unbiased interview I've heard on the issue. It was a bit hard to tell which side he supported, but when he was talking about a possible new ticket IMO he was more supportive of the them.

I would love to see a transcript of this interview sometime. This is another recollection of what was said from BigFooty.

Quote:
Matheson was on Kevin Bartlett's program this morning. He basically said that the current board are doing a "very good job" - with the money they have at their disposal. Time and again he brought the talk back to money, making it clear that it's the root of all our problems.

He said that if someone else with money wanted to do the job, then good on them, but that no-one has contacted him at any stage through the last four years. He added that any speculation or destructive criticism simply tears apart "the thing you love". He also said that the place was in much better shape than it was in 2002, and there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Some paraphrasing there with 'basically said' and the like but these grey areas are quite important given Matheson's position on Smorgon. The fact that he doesn't believe we need the speculation or criticism is the most interesting point though.

Can anybody backup one version or the other or both perhaps?

Maybe the 'ham' part went bad? It's all in the spelling it seems.

All is correct. The BF quote added a few extra snippets I failed to put in.

Sorry I gave you the impression I was asking you for a transcript while I was quoting mjonc and Alec Duncan from BF. They had differing points in their posts and I wanted to see if the paraphrasing from the BF thread, was actually said, before I formed an opinion.

Just said that I would like to read a transcript, not thinking for a moment that there was one or that a poster would have written one.

Sadly, I wholeheartedly agree. I dont care who comes in as long as they bring with them significant funds!!

We need the cash as desperately as a drowning man needs air.... and we're sinking fast!!

I don't wanna end up like Fitzroy!

he aint a fan...
he believes the club needs money and the current people cant generate or donate it....when thats the case others arent silly and wont either.. cos noone invests money to a company where the directors of that company are selling their shares and unwilling to invest in it themselves....

Who wants to join me?

If you keep saying that you will be invited onto the board.... as long as you agree with everything and dont pose a threat.

There is a huge chance we will be holding board meetings at the Heatley Stand pretty soon.... just so we can fit everyone.....

Just to let you know - Zac Fied is not the Poppy King investor - That was Tab Fried - No relation. Zac is part of the Fried and Fraid Family who own Spotlight, Anaconda and other businesses. a huge retailer worth hundreds of Millions of dollars - Zac is 34 or 35 years old (I went to school with him)

Mark Harrison (Harra) is also young - I would guess about 38 yo and is a self made bloke who has become involved with the Ashe Morgan Winthrop group. He is an investment finance guru .

Both are well connected in the Jewish and general business community and may well be directors for the next 15 -20 years.

Is he better connected in the Jewish community than Graeme and his old man???
Is he more able to deliver the clout from the same people than the Smorgons???

Nahhh.... another one whos old man made him the money and is im potent.

Daniel Besen invested more in Poppy ... Carlton supporter too... but i doubt he has been to more than a dozen games in his life....

We dont care about who is connected to the Jewish community..(when it comes to the CFC). we care about who will make things happen!!!

thats my opinion.....

They may well be excellent candidates.
But surely the honourable option would be to call an AGM and run these guys as candidates. :?

We currently have a board of 12 people with only 50% elected by the members! The rest are political appointments.
How is that healthy? Instead of our board meetings being utilised to important address club issues, they are being hijacked by the incumbents shoring up their own positions.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who aligns themself with Smorgon should be treated as such.
If he goes, they can @#$%&! off as well.

Let them be on notice.

If you're gonna bring in significant funds- I don't care how how qualified or unqualified you are to sit on the Board - I'm voting for you!!
