I have been advised that the AGM will be held on 8 Feb 07...Smorgan will announce this most likely on Wednesday 27 Dec 06......This will then give all interested parties 7 days to nominate their intention to run with the club....

If this is the case, there can be no further doubt that Smorgan is all about self preservation and nothing more.....Smorgan knows that most people are away for the xmas holidays and this will ultimately make it very difficult for people to formalise a ticket and nominate by 8 Jan 07......

I have news for Smorgan, a ticket which is backed by the one and only Richard Pratt will be disclosed next week and the people on this ticket are successful business people who are very passionate about Carlton....This ticket is not the Tom Elliot one and has no backing from either John Elliot or Wes Lofts.....

Stay tuned all as it will all happen in the new year.......Have a merry xmas and rest assured that the fortunes of the Carlton Football Club will change for the better in 2007.........Go Blues......

This was the first thing I thought as well - self-preservation. What a disgrace. Smorgon has subverted the democratic process at Carlton more than Elliot ever did. Disgusting to play politics like this.

We must all vote Smorgon off.

The other interesting thing is that there seem to be 3 rival 'tickets' - Elliot, Brown, Pratt. Hope they can unite and blow the current imposters out of the water.

One thing I don;t get is why does smorgon wanna hold on to his position so badly if all he's doing is embarrassing himself.

Thanks IB.

Thought there might have been other 'tickets' out there. The Elliot one reeked a bit of recruitment (or rattling the cages to see what stirs) via the media.

There might be upwards of 30 people on the ballot for 10 places!

The tickets have to be very organised, a lot of people will just cherry pick with a large ballot rather than vote along ticket lines. If they do not get enough proxies or people voting the right way we could end up with a cherrypicked board with people from all the different groups.

I strongly believe that once the Richard Pratt backed ticket is announced, a lot of people who are thinking of running may have second thoughts as this ticket is very strong.......

I hope that this ticket wins but I agree with your thoughts that if people pick people from all different tickets, we will end up with a Board that may not be all heading in the one direction.....

I get it...it goes like this.....

Remember 2002...
21 Million dollar debt (supposedly)
Aged/retiring players
Underhand payments still being revealed
Tied to long term, backended contracts
Over the TPP, so have to negotiate pay cuts
Fine, draft penalties,
Whinging players, trades, recycled players, sponsors leaving, Optus finishes naming rights, TD move...etc...etc..etc

I have no doubt Smorgan et al feel that they've done the hard yards through this stage and are now they are at the cusp of improvements (on and off field) and so want to be there for pay back time...

Not saying I agree...actually think this is a danger time due to complacency...(the "everything will no be ok" mentality)...but I've been involved enough in organisations that have gone through crap like this and you can't help but see this happen ........people naturally get very immune to see the need for further work when they have worked their butt off to "rescue" a situation....and pften whammo...they don't even see a biger danger coming

Happy this is coming from IB - else I would have just dismissed it. There have been so many "stories" of who and when would challenge and white knights.... I am at the point where I only believe it when I see it... but lets hope this one is a goer....

Won't happen UNLESS we go and VOTE for the new ticket. So get your voting rights up and running, perhaps, the process for this could be stickied?
