Synbad the point being made here that even with the timing of the AGM surely with things being so bad for so long a proper organised ticket alternative should be at the very least in the final stages of planning by now.

keogh there are people overseas on business..
Dunno what part of that you dont get....

It gets down to when is the AGM each year???

Name me one club that changes the date of its AGM every year????.. if you can ill buy you a beer...

You dont go changing your AGM to when it serves you the individual best...!!!

Why do people think busy people have plenty of time????

m outraged by this and youre oh well they cant organise themselves.. blah blah blah.

Well they will organise themselves just not for the AGM... and it WILL COST the club tens of thousands of dollars more that could have been sed on DEVELOPMENT... doesnt that make you @#$%&! mad???

I don’t know Smorgon – but I can observe things from his body language and demeanour. To me, the way he holds his chin upwards and how his mouth curves inward indicates that he is obstinate and inflexible. That is my summation – but all body language can be wrongly interpreted I guess.

Courage is what we need in our leaders. Courage in knowing when to back down – and this is what Ian Collins did. Smorgon has got to ask himself – what will best ensure the survival of the Carlton Football Club.

At the end of the day – all I care about is to make sure Carlton is a club that survives and isn’t transported like an 18th century convict off to some remote part of Australia.

I have a picture of the 1938 premiership team on my desk at work (amongst a few others). I sometimes look at the 1938 team and think that the football club meant a lot to these people, as it did to people in 1945, 1968 or 1875…. I am linked in a small way to these people and have a duty of care to ensure their football club survives long after I pass away. I will not be voting for Smorgon for that reason.

For months now Carlton supporters have been promised eternity with a supermodel, all we have been given so far is half a jar of vaseline and a Dimmey's catalogue.

I want Smorgon out as well.

I guess the alternative busy people have 2 choices
1 curl up their toes
2 get busier.

People high in the business world get there for many reasons. One is they are perceptive. You only have to watch a Smorgo interview for a few minutes to know the guy would change things to suite his own agenda.

The alternative should be ready for anything. If you dont challenge where stuck with him.

Ok the question i want you all to answer now is will you answer yes or no to the questions that were asked.

Would you put your hand up and say yes ive had enough of this clubs board in self preservation mode and im fed up with it.
Id like to add my name on a list that will go to the media as a protest that will hopefully educate the masses in the wider community about whats going on.

So far there is ...

Dont put your weight behind anything.. but just ask others to put their weight behind what youre doing...

But I thought I was just a lightweight that would make no difference?

I want better people at the club as well.

But you have to admit that in the last couple of months Smorgon has been outmanouvering the rival ticket/s. Is it not sensible that some people start asking questions about the organisational ability of the rival ticket/s when they are telling everyone how hopeless Smorgon is but at the same time are being outsmarted by him?

My sentiments exactly. I want my children to experience the same joy I have had since 1968. The first steps have been taken on the field but keeping Smorgan could threaten the whole club - MY CLUB and all the TCers club.

This might be over the top but I think unless the administration changes soon then there is a possibility that the Carlton that we have known and that has been around since 1864 could be lost forever.

Not being smart here Synbad but what would this achieve?

I'm prepared to chip in as long as the outcome will result in getting Smorgan out.

Can an EGM be called later in year assuming when all the big hitters are on deck?

Aslo why does it cost so much??

Postage alone costs around $15,000.

Then these days you need to get in consultants to run the meeting for you with all the whizbang voting hardware and software peripherals which costs a motza as well.

Theyre outmounevered because he is the president and he calls times etc.

But answer me this... has he outmounevered the banks.. the AFL and the media ?????

Cos thats what he is in there to do...!!!

Jarusa.. you and i are poor simple folk.... we dont go on holidays and we have alot of time on our hands..... but these rich powerful people..???... they work hard have no time and have a month of downtime with their families... and they need their families to support them if theyre going to do this... so when an organisation theyre used to has AGMS at March they know they can share quality time with their family in January...
because when quality organisations have an AGM its the same time each year..... theyre only used to doing business with real organisations after all.

thats why Collo had it March....

The average Carlton supporter and member needs to know whats going on.....

Most dont know because theyre not hard core like us.

We cant have this bloke keep tripping the club over for himself.

Because the fear is sooner or later we all become disheartened,,, we lose our passion and apathy and fatality will set in.
For us and anyone who wants to have a crack at turning the club around...

You give up here... and the club is gone in my opinion.

This is our very own Rubicon!!!

Firstly, I'm disappointed with the article this morning and the news about the potential rival ticket. However, I'm in the same camp as Jarusa and a few of the others...if the 5 people who hadn't confirmed their intentions, cannot confirm their intentions in the space of a few days, they are clearly not 100% committed to getting involved. All the timing has to do with it, IMHO, is to show that CD and whoever else is marshalling the new ticket, feels they don't have enough time to convince the doubters to get on board. In this age of modern communication etc it's easy to get in touch with people and have teleconferences or video conferences with people, especially big shot business players (yes even if on holiday as the hotels they would frequent would be suitably equipped). Smorgon's plan is no doubt a political stunt, but really if people want to challenge badly enough it can be overcome. Do these business people not rise through the ranks due to an ability to react to any challenge they face??? Synbad mate you need to be a bit more realistic and not do your back in by pushing your barrow so hard and being unable to accept any arguments contrary to yours - nasty habit I've observed on this site....

Nothing wrong with my back...

And you are entitled to be in any camp you like.. but youre missing out on the big picture.

Once this goes under... because of self preservation.. and were deeper in the shit... because this went under... because of self preservation...

who will take the club on when the debt is even higher and we are even further behind???

If i am doing my back its because i have to carry fools on the barrow...

If you dont get behind something when you need to... and that includes people like Pratt.. who can walk away...

You might as well go barrack for North...

Because some of you simply only see things at the surface and have no clue where youre going down the road...

If you think these tings just happen at the drop of a hat youre mistaken,

People have to put millions of their own money into this.. and a heap of their own valuable time.. and sometimes the timing isnt perfect.. so you have to negotiate other aspects to make it all happen.

Like i said... were simple folk and we dont get it!!... much easier to let things just fall in place for us to appreciate and not understand the planning aspect.. or appreciate it...
