I really like Skinny as a player - a guy that is only one of two to have won an All-Australian selection within the last 3 years. (Along with Fev.)

But being selected as captain... i think you need a player with the ability to physically intimidate to be a captain.

This would put Fev. at the top of the list - in terms of intimidation factor.

But i guess for stability and ability you have to go for Stevens.

Out of those two for mine.

physical presence? i dont think so, not many players would be intimidated by lance.

That depends on your definition of physical presence. :?

There were a few instances last season where a couple of young guys were being physically intimidated last year.

For example, when Scotland was flatlined and Eddie Betts scored the goal of the year. In the Half back line Walker was being gang tackled by two collingwood players, Lappin did not have the strength to get Walks out.. but Whitnall grabbed two Collingwood players one by each hand and ushered them away from Walker.

who is the first player to fly the flag and help the younger players?
Which player decked didak after scotland got hit?
which player fought bout 3 or 4 players on his own?
who inspires other players by his actions?

Fevolution - love your passion for the guy and was very much a strong supporter of Fev for captain, however, with the negative press he's received recently, I dont think he'll still be in line for the job. I think thats unfortunate and the criteria should be on-field performances, leadership and ability to represent and market the club in the media....but I dont think at this stage with where the club is at we can afford the backlash a move like this would receive.

On the other hand, I also dont think the club is willing to go down a revolutionary road and hand it to one of the younger guys - whether or not thats right or wrong. Think Nick Stevens may be the front runner at the moment.

IMO, Fev was a shoe-in until the Ireland/Bingle stuff. Still, he doesn't need to be captain to be a leader - take Peter Dean for example.

There are no standouts, actually had Barney F kept playing I would have given it to him for a year, but Lappin struggled to get a game at times lst year and looks to be on the downward slide. I would have thought Whit has shown the best leadership qualities, and Britts rated him as a leader when younger. All candidates have drawbacks.

I still reckon Fev is the best option.

I only liked Callan Beasy because I wanted to see him go up against Seaby for WCE.

Lance will get it and what a joke that would be. We would have a worse captain than Hawthorn.
