not far off that for mine, maybe lappin starting and carrazzo on the bench and blackwell instead of bentick if he doesn't start well in the season.

still not sure of Waite in the backline, im thinking the Wing is the place for him.

Surprised Hartlett hasn't appeared as yet.

I reckon he is crucial for not only 2007 but the better things to come from 2008 onwards.

i was thinking maybe kennedy could fill in at times but when mclaren is fit i'd say he'd be no.1 ruck.

i just couldn't bear to write cloke in my team but i hope he proves me wrong.

INT: Grigg Koutoufides Carrazzo Hampson

I would be all kinds of happy if this were the team for the majority of the season...

I would expect changes to be:

OUT: Hampson
IN: McLaren

I think it would be good for Hampson to get some #1 ruck time in the magoos (with Aisake as #2)

OUT: Benjamin
IN: Houlihan

THis would shit me to tears as Houla has had enough chances to be a stand out, yet he just can't get to the next level. Benjamin might just be the guy but would need to earn it first.

OUT: Anderson
IN: Fisher

There would be a bit of a shuffle around needed, but in the end.... Snore  .... Fisher will be allowed to play when he can kick and play a smart, team role (not cut off the leading man or fill precious space). When he does that, we win more. Until then, he plays in red and we switch to counter-attack.

No one who hasn't played a game yet is crucial to 2007. Even the best debut seasons are only great because it's a player's first year.

If Hartlett can break into the team and play a few games he'll have done ok in my book. But he won't have a significant bearing on our 2007 result, let alone be crucial.

The emphasis is on the future but trying to maintain balance.

Hartlet Thornton Russell
Lappin Waite O’hAilpin
Simpson Stevens Scotland
Houlihan Kennedy Gibbs
Betts Fevola Whitnall
Ackland Walker Murphy

Bower Grigg Koutoufides Hampson

I know people on here love Carrazzo, but I just don't think he is going to survive the next two rounds of cuts. The 2009 team will hopefully be the one that contends again.

IMO the next 2 round of changes will see "starting 22" challenges to: Bentick, Carrazzo, Fisher, Betts, Houlihan, Blackwell and Waite.

Betts & Waite have been fantastic but they will be the sort of players that will need to remain consistently fantastic for a while yet to keep their names in the starting 22 (Brad Hodge syndrome...) while I think Fisher still has some work to do to show he can be a consistent contributor, as does Carrazzo who will hopefully become more of a midfield rotation contributor.

Ok, I'm ready now - lay into me....

7 Stevens 30
8 Thornton 30
9 Waite 30
10 Walker 30
11 Ackland 27
12 Fisher 27
13 Kennedy 27
14 Kouta 27
15 Whitnall 27
16 Lappin 26
