A few years a go I managed a pub in Fitzroy and M.Allan and M.Richardson came in quite often.

They would order a couple of drinks and have a chat.

When we were busy in the evening, nearly every man and his dog would go up to them and give them shit.

I felt sorry for them.

We had a lot of other AFL players come into the pub on weekends and unfortunately most of them were wankers (especially the richmond mob).

I made sure that my security kept an eye on them because they were pretty volatile.

I reckon the concept : "Instant wanker= just add alcohol" applies 9 out of 10 occassions with young fit blokes who earn a lot of money. It is just reality.

So that being the case:

It seems obvious to me that Lance was trying to be mother hen and a couple of the younger guys (probably as happy as we are about the Pratt presidency) were celebrating....got pissed....got stupid...got involved in an arguement.

Lance tried to diffuse the situation and BINGO.

People need to relax/unwind... but does the playing list need to be out at 5am on a bender in Ballarat during pre season?

NO

Especially in light of the Fev-Ireland incident.

Its common sense to have public savy, when in the lime light.

The players have an obligation to be some what sensible both on the park and off it.

Shit happens....but at Carlton lately...way to often.

They were there because Scotto had a horse racing that day I think. As for the time I can't answer that one.

Not sure why people are pissed off they were out at 4 or 5 or whatever it was. No match or training the next day…& it wasn't part of our community camp. If they can't go out when they have the next day off & 7 weeks til the season proper starts then when can they?

As for the incident itself, have to wait & see. Certainly the publican's account plus the caller to SEN who was watching from across the road make it not sound too bad.

fevola, scotland, these types of people, whitnall, need to realise how lucky they are to have their jobs, i mean, if it wasn't for football they aren't the sort of people who are making 200-250k+ salaries, at the end of the year, whatever, but in the lead-up to the season this isn't the publicity the players or the club need, keep them inside, shut their mouths, and make them understand that no, they are more than footballers, they are celebrities, role models, even if, for all intents and purposes, they shouldn't really be.
