Well Achillies if we take that path the best option is to put Murphy up in the captains post he is streets ahead of all those mentioned i just think he needs an extra year or two
I look at it differently why give someone who is still developing or needs to get consistancy in the game and make that next step up.
I looked at Stevo or Whits not as a long term options more to groom one the best prosects in the club
If you look at it another way .. make Stevo Captian and then maybe walks / Murphy Vice ...
Waite no not on last 3 years has struggled to even play out a season
Bentick been in and out of the team
Walker - still maturing a wanting to learn more but ready to take the next step of his own game and by all indications will this year
Murphy is the best current prospect in the side but maybe 1-2 years away so why not put Stevo in to groom him for the future role..and add Murph to the leadership this year and VC next year
Anyway the way the club is looking it will be Stevo or Whits ... but hopefully they are only looking for them to assume the role until Murph is ready.
We are stuck between a rock and a hard place Wolfe!
I see your point of view and there is pro's and con's as is my point of view aswell.
I still think Murph need another 2 years atleast before we even think of giving him the captaincy.
My perfect scenario would actually be a rotating captaincy system with the following name sin order of captaincy:
2007-Stevo/Whitnall (Joint) Just like Sydney did with Hall/Kirke and successfully won a premiership.
2008- Walker
2009- Murphy and if he is good enough give to him from there on in.
We need to move with the times and take some risks!
We need to be RUTHLESS, RELENTLESS and not look back!
The bottom line is that tWhitnall will win the captaincy hands down!
So whatever we say dont really matter right?
