Who cares if Sheedy is trying to get another blockbuster?

If we profit, I couldn't care less. And we play them twice anyway, why not get the AFL behind us and give one of the fixtures an extra push?

I can't understand why there would be resistance to this.

We can play for the Cattogio Cup... a huge fro' shaped trophy.

But seriously - we could probably get the Grollo's involved in sponsoring the day - given both Daniel's interest in the club and the huge number of italians, greeks, etc who've worked for the Grollo's over the years, it could work out really well.

WE'RE CRAZY IF WE DON'T JUMP RIGHT ONTO THIS!

How about the Camporeale Cup?

why bother with the term multicultural just cut to the chase and call it the Wog Cup. Catering can alter the menu from pies chips and hot dogs to pasta, souvlaki and pizza I can guarantee at least 1000 of my relatives would attend

Agree totally...I'ld have another 1000 mad wog relatives....

Actually the idea of Good Friday has legs....

Serve Fish my mad Italian relos and MEAT for my mad Greek relos....
The Greeks(Serbs, Yugos etc) are all waiting for Orthodox Easter to click around so Good Friday is just one sh#tfully boring day where you get to watch Dan Webb on the Channel 7 telethon all day! (or "King of Kings" on any other Channel)

(Ok...having said that, they coincide this year...BUT...)

I'm of the same opinion as Deano.

How can this be a bad thing for us? Even if the proposed 70-90k don't show up in Rd 20 or whatever, there will still be the regular 50k give or take, which is what we'd have if the match wasn't 'themed'. And it raises awareness about multiculturalism in the most Australian of sports.

If we don't jump at this we're @#$%&! morons.

great idea .. companies like Barilla Pasta can sponsor the presentation. then the following day we can have a wog family day at PP all the relo s of each supporter can make a dish and we can sit in the middle of PP eating and drinking vino, the oldies can play cards the yougies can perve on the females all this to the theme of italian music blaring in the background.

Im italian born and I dont have single hair on my back. its a myth so that particular business idea wouldnt work. But there may be some merit in hiring a few fruit vans and selling fruit and veg in the carpark that would go great guns I think. 8)

Even better, just like the "marshmallow" Essendon* vs North game, we could throw the fruit and veg at Sheedy as he walks around the boundary line.

We are always going to be fixtured twice against the Bummers so relax. Frankly I think this is Sheedy engaging in a very cunning PR exercise camouflaged in some specious claim of assisting Carlton. We dont need any more perceptions of charity especially from Sheedy. Crowds have been reasonable in spite of the ladder positions and they havent exactly been setting the football world on fire either have they? Once both clubs start winning a few games the crowds will be back at 'blockbuster' levels. Funny how they want to help us after Pratt and co are back on board.

We can't lose out by doing it, it may draw an extra few thousand in each year, but its not going to make a huge difference.

How the teams are performing at the time will determine whether the game is a blockbuster....not whether the game has a theme.

A couple of years ago, in about Round 20, we played Essendon* at the G in front of about 34,000 people. Would an extra 4,000 people have this game a blockbuster or do you believe that if we'd been playing for the 'Multicultural Cup' it would have drawn 70,000?

It should be an Easter Monday clash every year at the G - a true blockbuster in Melbourne - then they can add the multicultural spin on it.

Aints & Tigers at the Dome can go stick it!!!!

Well said Anfield, the football public aren't gullible to the point that they will say 'ooh, muticultural cup' I'll go to that game. What we want is an Anzac Day blockbuster of which there is only one day. No matter how much we and others want to pretend all of these other 'special' games are they don't do shit.

If we really want to create something how about playing Richmond on Good Friday? Would much rather create something with them then let Essendon* have another day that they can claim as their own.

I'm not prepared to accept it unless Joe the Esserdon supporter from Moonee Ponds gives a speech on multiculturalism before the game. "Aww yeah multiculturalism's a real good part about being in Melbourne…without it we wouldn't have all these different restaurants n food n other cultures from other lands n shit…."

No to a Good Friday game.

Too many Catholic Cogs Supporters [CWS] at Carlton for this to stick.

Plus as a CWSTM, I have a major issue with it - I won't be able to go!
