Maybe a Josh Kennedy vs Josh Kennedy dual is on the cards at some stage?

Interesting to see both those players....ditto for Gary Moss...Moss was said to be too small, too slow etc etc....last time Hawthorn went for a "too slow, will never make it footballer" they scored Sam Mitchell.....

Not much in the way of options for Fev with Croad, Smith and Jacobs all out.

Dawson, Gilham and Roughead simply aren't in his class.

In:- Bower, Grigg

Yup, I agree.

Except Grigg should be in for Young cause he is better!

I'd throw in Hampo just to further strengthen our ruck stocks against Campbell and Dawson.

Apparently the Hawks are down at AFL House now trying to get Shane Whitnall added to their squad.

I'd like to see Saddington get a game and go alright.
We have what appears to be some big/ good young kids coming through, but we still need some expirience down back.
Saddinton offers that.
Regards Pedro.

In the middle for the Hawks is usually a rotation between:

Mitchell, Crawford, Ladson, Bateman, Vanderberg and Brown sometimes plays HB or wing.

With Ladson (who I rate) Brown and Vanders out, then we definetely will have an advantage over them in the middle' rotations.

If Renouf plays, well we should throw in Hampson fort the experience, and to have a look at him in the senior level..

I'd like Saddington to play, (because he's having a good preseason) but not at the expense of Bower. I've changed my position on Saddo...if he stars in the VFL then it is obvious that he deserves a spot in the seniors. IMO Bower has already made a position in the backline his own.

I'd love to see Grigg for Young...difference in class.

But one thing is for sure, we can't play everyone!

So for mine:

OUT: Betts, Saddo, Young & Jackson
IN: Bower, Grigg, Bentick & Hampson

OUT BETTS?

Wow. I'd keep Betts in at all costs. If he only kicks one goal a game or tackle's one player a game then he's done his job because the goals he DOES make or the tackles he lays USUALLY end up being ones that can & quite often do turn a game!

To be completely honest, I cannot remember ever seeing either of Ladson or Bateman in the middle. Both would always line up on a wing or flank as they don't tend to win the hardball and prefer to receive it and run into space. And Brown is very rarely at HB - usually much deeper in defence.

In naming our midfield rotation, you seem to have forgotten names like Hodge, Lewis, Birchall and Sewell - all much bigger bodies than what I would expect the Blues to rotate through.

No offense ryan but I don't know where you get that from. We lost 18 with him in it last year. The drawn Essendon* game in 06 is obviously vivid in your memory.

One hit wonder maybe.

I'm sorry, love the kid, but he doesn't do enough for me at this stage in his career. Overrrated, just because he's chased down a few and tackled from behind from a chase...have a look at his possessions per game...not really compelling....runs around a lot...hardle a crumbing forward...he's too often missing and not playing that role. I reckon he's lost most of the time....but I do love him.

IMHO he's taking up a position.

Very flashy, not enough substance atm for me. Perhaps needs more stamina. He needs something that's for sure. Unfortunately his flashy tricks at training from the boundary leave spectators with in awe....it's on the field in a game where it counts....that's where I want to see it...and the goal of the year from the boundary...great spectacle...still didn't play 4 quarters in that game either.

Love him, but not in love with him

Hawthorn will be dangerous so I'm tipping a good contest. Hope we can make it 2/2 in the NAB cup and tee up a Semi Final. If nothing else, for confidence in the playing unit and memberships.

Hi Folks,

I'm currently miles away in the Big Apple, first time ever I will need to rely on internet updates to find out how the Blues are travelling (2am in the morning mind you)

Any news why Hartlett has been omitted from the 28 man squad? He's not injured again is he? :?

I'm a big fan of Adam's, if he can stay on the park he wil be a very good player. I like his aggression and attack on the ball. Bower has to play, by all reports last week he played very well.

Good line-up there. Looking forward to seeing the new blokes. Who would we play if we win this?
