Today's Hun shows a story on the Pulse page about Dick placing a couple of Visy trucks outside MC Hammer Park with the blues membership information plastered all over them. Nic pic of Tex and Smurph as well - they are both so adorable.

Our current membership is 32,315, which puts us 7 on the tally board compared to other clubs.

Membership ladder is as follows:

Crows - 50,145
Weagles - 44,138
Freo - 43,000
Pies - 36,600
Ess - 35,364
Port - 33,363
BLUES - 32,315
Swans - 32,000
Saints - 30,353
Tigers - 29,522
Hawks - 29,011
Cats - 28,348
Dogs - 28,097
Dees - 27,156
Lions - 24,000
Roos - 20,045

Thats great imagine when we start wining a few more games next year. We will pass Essendon* and even the Pies good to dream but I'm sure we will become the best supported team in Victoria soon enough.

Couple of points when i look at this ladder.

#1. How bad have the Lions dropped of since the likes of Aka, Leppa & Voss have gone?

#2. If the AFL opened 3rd team in both Perth & Adelaide, there would be no way those insterstate clubs would be reaching figures of 40,000 plus.
I'd dare say that Adelaide & West Coast would loose about 10,000 supporters each at least!

#3. I doubt we'll make the record, but 32,000 is an amazing achievment considering where we've been finishing & how we've been playing! Imagine when we start winning games? 35,000+ would be reached EASILLY!

If Freo can get 43K members I dare say the Crows and Eagles would barely notice a blip if the AFL added new clubs to the Perth and Adelaide markets.

if we only reached last years' mark of 26,500 we'd be 14th looking at these figures - thankfully Mr Pratt came on board.

SA couldnt support another team.

WA certainly can but how can you get popular support. Most people have chosen one or the other

we may break 33k but i dont see the record being broken...had we won one or even both of our last 2 games in melbourne then we could have achieved such a feat. But lets leave it for next year...nonetheless its a great sign to see us above 32k...perhaps the numbers would increase if the club targeted current members with children who arent signed up as kiddy members (does that count towards the tally?) as they're not very expensive and alot of the faithful would be willing to throw the money in the ring for the club's benefit i'd think.

I don't understand why fans would wait until now to join up.
Surely to get full benefit of the membership you would join prior to the season :? :? :? :? :?

Have absolutely no idea. Every time I bring it up I get howled down because apparently I have more money than others who can't afford to sign up until almost mid-season. Go figure.

Who cares?

As long as they put their money where their mouths are, then that's good enough for me!

We haven't had a home game for 2 weeks now and we wont have one till the weekend after this one. I'd say there is still value in membership.

I'd like to buy another one (i always try and but 2 or 3) but funds are tight.

^^^Up until this round (8) we've only had 3 home games...

...Breaking the record (33,534) is well within reach as we still have 8 home games remaining for the season.
