Warren McKenzie IMHO a better player than Franchina at No.45.

Curly Austin was No.21

Paul Hurst was another with No.33

What number was Soapy Vallence?

Number #22.

Matty Hogg was an alright player, Fidder.
Not the best player but was a good battler in the trenches.

I've made a couple of additions to the list and reproduced all of the suggestions from earlier posts who managed to play a senior game (even Tim Powell). My choice for each number is the first named.

1 – Stephen Silvagni, Ken Hands, Serge Silvagni
2 – John Nicholls, Greg Williams
3 – Mike Fitzpatrick
4 – Steve Kernahan
5 – Andrew McKay, Syd Jackson, Ken Sheldon
6 – Garry Crane, Jon Dorotich, Matt Clape
7 – Wayne Johnston
8 – Trevor Keogh, Wayne Blackwell, LanceWhitnall
9 – Ken Hunter
10 – Adrian Gallagher, John James, Alan Mangels, Brad Shine, Mark Buckley
11 – Bruce Doull
12 – Barry Armstrong, Adrian Gleeson
13 – Mil Hanna, Phil Maylin
14 – Rod Ashman
15 – Val Perovic, Phil Pinnell
16 – Jim Buckley, Scott Camporeale
17 – Brent Crosswell, Gordon Collis, Brett Heaver
18 – Justin Murphy, Kevin Heath, Allan Montgomery, Peter Sartori
19 – John O'Connell, Andrew Phillips, Brad Pearce
20 – Geoff Southby
21 – Craig Bradley, Rod Austin
22 – Glenn Manton, Soapy Vallence, Tom Carroll, Neil Chandler, Robert Klomp, Warren Ralph, Tim Powell
23 – Paul Meldrum, Dean Rice
24 – Matthew Allan, Brendan Hartney, Jamie Dunlop
25 – Alex Jesaulenko
26 – David Rhys-Jones
27 – Des English
28 – Peter Jones, Spiro Kourkoumelis
29 – Simon Beaumont
30 – Fraser Murphy, Vin Waite, Jared Waite
31 – Ron Barassi, Tom Alvin
32 – Bryan Quirk, David Glascott
33 – Peter McConville, Paul Hurst, Matthew Hogg
34 – Ian Robertson, Alex Marcou
35 – Peter Dean
36 – Mark Maclure, Aaron Hamill
37 – Wayne Harmes
38 – Shane Robertson
39 – Ang Christou
40 – Scott Howell, Jim Plunkett
41 – Peter Rhode

43 – Anthony Koutoufides, David McKay,
44 – Justin Madden
45 – Warren McKenzie, Anthony Franchina
47 – Peter Francis
48 – Jordon Doering
49 – Phillip Poursanidis
54 – Neil Gaghan

Apologies if choices for 18, 24 & 29 offend.

Brett Ratten wasn't mentioned as an alternative for 7?

Fair call KK, Ratten was bloody good but I would still give it to Johnston over him.
The are lots of great players that weren't mentioned. Bosustow was brilliant but he was #4 and nobody would put him ahead of Kernahan.

Agreed, but I notice you've mentioned a few "alternatives" for quite a lot of the numbers.

And how about Hickmott as an Alternative 9?

KK,

I've posted all of the names that have been mentioned by other posters. Personally I reckon plenty of them should not have been named at all.
I believe there are some errors that were not corrected too, e.g. I don't think Mark Buckley ever wore #10, he started with a high number and then got #4.

How about these for some honourable mentions:

4 - Peter Bosustow
7 - Brett Ratten
9 - Adrian Hickmott
14 - Michael Sexton
15 - Bernie Evans
17 - Mark Naley
20 - Fraser Brown

That would be some match, woudn't it? A "best" v "alternatives" squad playing each other.

If honourable mentions are going to be mentioned then you could do worse than the following:

2 - Peter Motley. If he was still playing when Diesel came along it would have been Diesel having to find a new number not Mots

13 - Bert Thornley - Hey this guy deserves all the accolades he deserves for playing a such an important role in the following players influence on a certain grand final win

7 - Ted Hopkins - What more can you say

Mark Buckley was definitely No. 10 at one stage, may have changed later.

I see that Bruce Doull just pipped Glenn Hawker for the No. 11 post...

What about the ‘others’ who won’t make it to this topic? Some obvious standouts I think

2. Dominic Fotia
3. David Honybun
8. Craig Davenport/Scott Spalding
9. Steve Edgar
10. Sean Charles/Brad Shine
12. Jacob Anstey
15. Ben Nelson/Tony Lynn
18. James Cook
19. Andrew Merrington
22. Tim Powell
23. Renato Serafini
25. Sam Smart/Ben Sexton/Mark Athorn
26. Stephen O’Reilly
31. Michael McGuane
33. Mark Majerczak
36. Tim Riehiets
45. Darren Tarczon
48. Jordan Doering

Enough talent here to compliment our best of. What do you reckon?
