In simple terms, the national AFL Draft is designed to give clubs which finished lower on the ladder the first opportunity to pick the best new talent in Australia. At season's end, all clubs are allocated draft selections. The club that finished last receives the first selection, the second last team gets the second selection and so on until the premier receives the 16th selection. This is called a round of selections. A club which finishes the season with fewer than five wins may also receive a priority draft pick. A priority pick would give that club a selection prior to the first round. The drafting process takes place between seasons and has four distinct phases: the trading (exchange) period, national AFL Draft, national AFL Pre-Season Draft and national AFL Rookie Draft.

5 wins = 20 points (NOT 22) ........ end of story

As much as I want too win games, it is a big sacrifice to be anywhere else but the bottom firstly, then not have a priority pick.

Priority Pick
First Pick

PSD

First pick

Can make a big difference.

We finish say 14 th then what happens?

No priority pick, no first pick of the first round, and no first pick at the PSD.

If we finish 14th and we win more than 5 games then at best we get pick 3 at worst pick 5

If we finish 14th with 5 wins or less (20 points) then at best we get picks 3 and six and at worst picks 3 and at worse pick 10 (if every team below 20 points loses for the rest of the year - which wont happen)

Defintely 20 points or less. so we cannot win more than 2.5 more matches

If we win 3 matches we will have 22 points and be ineligible for priority pivk

I have this sick feeling that we'll win exactly THREE games from now until round 22.

At least we'll still get the spoon... :?

Sydney, Collingwood, Bulldogs..?

That's just off the top of my head... I see plenty of winnable games. It's disappointing that i feel disappointed about that.

Despite all of Synbad's converting (i am one of the converted by the way), i don't think it matters... My bet is we wont earn a PP.

I think we should go out there and win whichever game we can....if we're leading with 1 few seconds to go....just run a 19th man onto the field and ask Kouta to get the Ump to do a count..............

That's areal shame we could of really done with a priority pick...........

they shouldn't count draws, only wins...

Oh well....

Sorry, I know this has been discussed before. It's too hard to search on - too many mentions!

Will 22 points get us a PP or is 20 the cut-off?
