didnt play well last week and probably needs to regain form in the twos.
Having said that why delight in the fact that a young player has been dropped. He will get back and play well in the seniors.Ever heard of being patient with young players and supporting your team.
Presumably a couple of years ago Simon you also wanted to drop fevola and houlihan off the list
Moreover are you now a convert on livo or you want to exterminate him now

Yes, simon, you were right. A game of 2 stats was not good enough and he should have been dropped.

Alas, it was the 'get rid of him' tone that we all responded to. No one disagreed that his game last weekend was good enough.

Simpson has had very little time on the ground over his matches. He started to get a bit of the ball and then was average last week, with limited time. Scotland, on the other hand, was utterly disgraceful against Melbourne. I won't say he didn't try but he certainly had zero intensity, now after an ordinary game in the twos, he's back. Talk about switching deck chairs on the Titanic. Forget about the coach tanking or even giving young guys extended time to fail and then find their feet. He's gone defensive and conservative and doesn't want a spoon on his cv. I think he'll be trying to squeeze every win he can get, even if it costs us in the long term. I don't want to tank, but I'm willing to use the season for development. Give Simmo lots of gametime and then at the end of the year we'll see how far he's got. We already know where Scotland is, and he really needs to recover form in the twos.

I would have given him another few games....yo yo selections of young blokes annoys me..unless they are Chris Judd etc they dont play well every week and are up and down and we need to keep playing them to see if they can make it...he will probably be in our best for the Bullants this week and get 30 possies...the kid needs a breakthrough game where he gets plenty of the ball and then his career will take off....

Selecting Scotland will mean we are one step closer to losing IMHO.

And isn't that what a lot of us want?

Its clear - Scotland is a key, required player to Pagan and the droppingto the 2's was just an interim step to try and get him playing properly again. Theres no doubt that we miss Scotland's input terribly, there were a number of games last year where he was pivotal and our drive is sorely lacking.

Under many people's theories - had they been Western Bulldogs supporters - the 'underacheiving' Giansiracusa and Gilbee would be gone - and just look what they are doing this year. And those two are good analogies. Giansiracusa arrived at the Bulldgos at 67kgs. Look at him now.

Point taken, but an even better example is Jordan McMahon. While he is still light, Eade is using him out of defence to continue to improve his football education, and he has played the most consistent 11 games of his career to date. It takes a long time with these light bodies, and boy it can be frustrating watching them squib contests or turn over the ball from an uncontested possesion, but you simply have to perservere. Instead of putting the line through someone like Simpson so early into his career, you should be putting the line through those players that have had repeated opportunities to cement their place in the side, and 5 seasons on, still haven't.

Agree with that strongly. He's not going to get any better picking up another 20 touches in the vfl.

Two things:

1. Simmo is no chance of being delisted this year. So SimonVerbeek enjoy your glory while you can.

2. What the hell is IHMO?

IMO, the only reason Scotland was selected (despite just 1 week in the ressies) is because of the doubts surrounding Stevo who might not play, or if he does will probably have limited game time in the middle. If Stevo was 100%, I don't think Heath would've been selected.

Otherwise, I'm with Clem on the conspiracy theory!

Thought there were quite a few who played better than Heath last week in the 2's who must be wondering how he gets a game and they don't.

I would agree with you that he's a good chance to survive this year. That's not on merit, but rather because Pagan has a smorgasboard buffet of hack footballers to choose from when delisting at the end of the year, yet he can ultimately only choose about 7 players.

On your next point mjonc, I'm not after any glory. I don;t take any joy in the fact that we have players who aren't up to it. I wish simmo would succeed, I wish all of our players would become quality AFL footballers.
But that's my heart talking. My head tells me that a lot of them are crap.

The reason I bumped this thread up again is because I know I was right but still got every poster and his dog jumping down my throat. Contrast the following quotes:

No size, no ability, doesn't win the ball. He'll be dropped next week for the only other other guy on the same crappy level as him - number 7. In fact, simmo makes Davies look like a Brownlow medallist.

I wrote this at halftime against Adelaide. You may see this as harsh but in essence I was correct. Still, people jump back at me with the following rubbish -

Kade is fine, don't let him owrry you, was great last week and will still be in the senior team next week. Doubt he'll play for the Bullants again this season.

You can now see that I was talking honestly and predicting Carlton affairs accurately (a good prediction from halftime especially), while those who speak crap such as that quoted above do not have a realistic outlook regarding our lower tier.

I can't let this go through to the keeper. Good luck to simmo, I hope I'm wrong and he succeeds, but my head tells me otherwise, and Dennis Pagan concurred.

So you have been talking to 'Dennis', have you?

Simpson being dropped adds nothing to your argument.

I thought Simon's argument was that anyone who likes Kade Simpson is screwed in the head.
