Wrapt the kid has got a go,and i might add,has more than earnt his spot with consistantly good displays in the magoos.......Yeah,did target this guy last year after a stellar performance against the Ants. But there is more to it than that.Have seen Ryan Ferguson,Paul Johnson, and Toby Thurstans play juniors in this neck of the woods. To me,Chris Bryan showed every bit of ability that these guys did as a youngster. It was just a matter of oppurtunity. Some guys get the lucky breaks, and others dont.Who can accurately say whether he can go on with it ? I cant. But i can definatly say that the guy has as much natural ability as a lot that are regular AFL footballers. With a lot of guys it is a very fine line between success and failure..............I think Chris is good enough, and if he grabs his chance, could develop along the lines of that underatedPort player Brendan Lade.A good pinch hit ruckman who is more than handy going back or forward.

Anyhow, good luck Chris. And while you wear the old dark navy blue,be proud.

We are dying for a back up big man who already has the skills, are we not? Bryan, you go out there and show them what you can do. Be the next hero of the navy blue... no pressure, mind...

DP, give him minutes... lots of them, and weeks a few in a row... if he's no good, we lose nothing, if he shines, we have a new second big man to complement Bananaby! a win-win situation!

Good luck to Bryan. Deserves his chance, i just hope he doesn't persist with his short stab passes as they bring him undone.

I'm very excited for Chrissy Bryan, and he has to get minutes, well he will get minutes. There's no way Pagan will give Prenda the main rucking duties when Bryans in the team and there's no Barnaby and Deluca.

I think Pagans really gonna test him.

And while trying out for this rep side, we used this killer kick in tactic. It would get us atleast 3 goals extra a game.

Basically there's a guy with a good mark who is always going to create a contest in the target for the kick in, he's as far back as possible. In this case it's Kouta. Kouta has a rover in front of him, in this case i reckon Betts could do a good job. There's two good kickers behind Kouta, in this case Stevens and Lappin/ Campo and it's used as a big wave running down the guts. Kouta has 5 very worthy options. He can take the mark and hand ball to bloke running past, he can take the mark and kick it to a leading Fev/ Whitnall, he can tap it forward to Eddie who puts it out in front of Stevo who's running strait down the corridor, he can tap it behind to Stevo, Lappin and Campo or he can take the mark go back and give it to either Stevo/ Lappin or Campo who have pushed hard down the ground to create another option.

Would work perfect with Bryan kicking it to the centre circle.

Of course, unless there've practiced it at training, it won't work come match day. It took us a whole session to get it perfect.

Well, Bryan did everything everybody predicted he would do, take the kick outs... Problem was our midfield is crap to take advantage of it.

Great first game up, was BOG for the first 3 qrts before tiring..

Not only was his rucking pretty good, he was our ONLY midfielder as well.

Take your $2,000 paycheck and go and get absolutely shitfaced tonight Bryan.

But was it such a sad day?
Yeah we lost and all, but we put up a pretty good show and had many positives to take away from the game.

Woofs debut.
Carrazzos improvement.
Waites HUGE improvement.
Whitnall's 5 goals.
Fev trying.

You buggers had me convinced this guy was a dud. That debut today was better than Walkers. Future Star by the look of it

to be fair SB i don't agree on people calling him a dud, I think Synbad had very strong views but if you read Bullants articles or posts from people who've watched the 2's you'd generally hear praise, and a lot of it.

so he's got a slow turning circle - how many ruckmen don't?

so he's got a poor right foot - how freaking good was his left!?!?

so he's shorter than your average ruckman....well, he's going to have to live with that and thats probably why he's had 4 years at the lower levels without being drafted until now.

there may be things that pagan wants bryan to do, but watchers of bullants games always have him in the best players. today was a wonderful start by a great guy and i just hope he keeps it up.

Shall be extremely interesting to see what we do with 2 ruckmen in the team....

Yes, great debut. Pipped at the post by Whitnall as our best player. It is nice to see someone jump up to the next level and dominate straight away.

i know it's premature, and if walker's debut has taught us something ....

but allow me a moment to get carried away ....

i wonder if, when barney returns, we can use bryan as a CHF with forward ruck duties.

we can have waite playing that floating HF role like richard dennis used to play; larnce in a pocket (hopefully taking their 3rd defender); fev playing as a traditional lead and mark FF; eddie sitting front and square as much as possible

Was extremely impressed with Bryan today. Had no expectations as I didn't know much about him, and without him we would not have gotten as close as we did. Congratulations on a fantastic debut 8)

Great effort by Bear.

Sorry Sydney..don't agree that it was better than AWs debut, but it was a very good one just the same.

I have been sceptical of him from the limited games in the VFL I have seen this year, but his first up effort was terrific.

If he can keep that up, imagine having him and French alternating in the ruck. A huge improvement for the side straight away. :)
