Are you referring to mobility or excess weight? :)

Just touching on that, I wonder if weight clauses are legal, or could they be deemed discrimination under common law?

If Lance was to be kept on our list, it would seem that a performance based contract would be the way to go...

No legal issues that I know of. Anti-Discrimination laws don't cover this to the best of my knowledge, and in a sport, I would think that such a term under the contract would be acceptable.

Hate to disappoint you Bill but that was a body double.

Surely you are not comparing Lance to a racehorse Synbad

I sat on the wing at the (Wizard Cup) Melbourne game and watched Lance run the length of the ground over and over and over again. It was amazing and contributed a huge amount to my enthusiasm at the start of the season. With Lance putting in like that I thought we'd win more than we lost. He's a great player when he can be bothered being a great player.

Unfortunately since the Wizard Cup he's not chasing nearly as hard and he's certainly not running end to end all game. Whether or not it's weight related I don't know but either way he's just not putting in the way he was during the WC.

As for his contract?

The last one is completely irrelevant. The issue is what is he worth now and personally given his current form and last 3-4 years output I wouldn't give up a mouldy sandwich for him.

I've little doubt he'll pull his finger out when he arrives at another club and realises what it takes to be an AFL player these days. That's just something we'll have to deal with. We're not going to get much for a trade but we will get cap space and that'll probably have to do.

Damn...I'll have to pay closer attention!

Perhaps Lance has a body double! So many people saying that he's put on 10kg since the Wiz Cup...is there another Lance running around out there?!

I thought he'd picked up some pace when watching the wizard cup, but seeing him chase opponents live in the Freo game behind play he looked slow. That really worried me, I thought he was gone as an AFL footballer last year, but the Wizard Cup made me hope that he could have a role. The Freo game made me think that however well he plays, he'll always be trying to outweigh the negatives of lack of pace and mobility and being run off by the opposition.

Not trying to put the boot into Lance, but I can't see a long-term future. Pity!

Playing devil's advocate, maybe not if you calculated it in $ per goal :)

Id probably have achat to the recruiter who knows all and ask him to tell me how he goes over his career.. then id know he would be a hack after 2001 andid trade him to Freo and take Judd with pick 1.
Then id ask that recruiter about Campo... and what would happen once Williams, Ratten, Bradley and Brown retire... and i think id get another early pick and use that one on Hodge or Ball... (if its before 13 it would be DalSanto)and youd just know im a genius Mark...

Lance was terrific today.

Hopefully it wasn't just a flash in the pan and that really kickstarts his season. Although I don't think he's been our worst this year really...

Keep taking easy shots at Lance, I bet most of you loved him back in 2000 when he was a genuine start. I bet you also jump on the bandwaggon when we are winning and once we start to lose you blame Lance.

Lance is not our immediate problem. He showed us what he is capable of doing today - yes he may struggle next week but some other players will never be able to do what Lance did today and they are our problem.

Do you think Williams at Hawthorn would have so many goals playing for Carlton this year? get fair dinkum and stop taking easy shots at Lance. Lance will never have a body like Kouta so get over his fitness and physique and start thinking about our immediate requirements.
