Was a very good debut by Bryan and clearly the MC have little idea and Bryan should have played earlier on in the season. He has more natural skill than Prenda, Deluca and French combined and should be perservered with for the rest of the season.
I am very dissapointed he didnt play earlier on in the season and the MC and coach need to get a grip on where players skill level is at and promote players with talent and potential rather than rotate players who have been tried and failed time and time again.
Look forward to seeing Blackwell ,Russell and Hartlett get a game at some stage as well..sooner than later providing the MC can show some guts and pick them...

Lance Whitnall...positive.. played well but has to do it every week rather than once in while..marked well and kicked straight...
Fev....battled on and made Barry work harder in the second half.
Thornton..battled hard..Barry Hall is some player and is hard to stop and while Hall won the war I think Thornton won enough battles to earn his pay cheque.

Carazzo was ok and I thought Morell did well at times...

Davies attack on the ball and tackling skills.

Bryan putting to rest our backup ruck options. Deluca won't get another game this year if Bryan plays like that each week.

Waite, Whitnall and Fev working together and kicking goals.

Eddie Betts learning what its like to be tagged in only his 10th game. Every time he touched the ball he was tackled by Crouch and Co.

Scotland found a bit of it and applied himself for the hardball.

McGrath rebounded well off halfback.

Livo's one percenters, although he had 4 goals kicked on him, 3 were early.

Best:

5 - Bryan
4 - Whitnall
3 - Waite
2 - McGrath
1 - Carrazzo

Great game by Lance and Waite. Bryan had an excellent debut, made a couple of minor mistakes but looked very good. Thought McGrath was good to, went hard all day. The usual suspects went missing, quiet for Kouta, Stevens and Campo. Fev was still waiving his arms around sulking on occassions. He goes hard for 80% of the game but still spoils it with the odd Richo impersonation

Davies is incredibly frustrating. You can almost bet that EVERY time there's a high, undisciplined tackle it either came from Davies or Waite or to a lesser extent someone like a Campo. Some players just go in too overzealously while others just have flawed technique. I think it's more overzealousness in the case of Waite but with Davies it might be a technique problem.

Don't think you can blame players for that today, the umpiring on that was F%&#$ disgrace. They got conned by players ducking into tackles all day. Finally one of them got it right in the last couple of minutes. Cost us several goals too today especially early.

It's time for Geischams(or however you spell it) head to roll. They are ruining the game, not the Swans game plan as the media has been bleeting all week.

Some of them were there though which makes it even more frustrating.

Davies is one player who in my opinion never seems to lay his tackles correctly. He's not the only player going around with this problem but we see it just about every week and it is bloody annoying!

Walker's game wasn't something to write home about but he is coming along nicely and he will be a terrific player once he is capable of physically matching it with the senior players.

Haven't seen the game yet. But I wasn't surprised to hear Kirk and Jude Bolton getting a stack of frees for too high and in the back. The umps absolutely love these 2, and they know how to milk the frees.

Carlton had two opponents today. The Sydney Swans and the Umpires.

Some umpiring was questionable - on both sides.

It comes down to tackling technique. Ducking your head has nothing to do with it. We don't tackle low, we don't put our head down and we don't hit with the body. We go in with arms everywhere!! Not good enough

One opponent that will never be beaten however is the Umpires, so as much as we hate them, we must accept them.

The guys freeing their arms and standing up in tackles to get the quick handpass off (not all of the time though)...Another positive is that Campo will be taking a pay cut at the end of this year...But seriously, does anybody know some stats for possesions against vs. possessions for...Campo's man was Jude Bolton and well he was probably one of the BOG...

PS: Opps, i forgot that this is meant to be about the positives...

Best:

Whitnall
Bryan
Waite
Carazzo

Carrazzo was brilliant today and is classier player than David Johnson whilst being quicker and more aggressive. He is a better player than we would have expected and will make the Cats regret letting him go.

No win.

That will upset a few, however from todays game, many worthy notes can be taken.

As supporters, we saw a lot of the young talent on show today which was fantastic, especially for the future.

What a sight it was seeing the big fella Bryan in the ruck today. Really imposed himself on the field and his great work today for game number 1 was teriffic to see.

The 3 W's. Waite. Awesome. Great marking, leading and one of the contenders for goal of the year, surely!

Walker. Keep playing the kid and as he blossums, the fruits will soon bear.

Whitnall. Great game. Can still produce the goods, but how often? A firing Lance Whitnall is so valuable to the team and this was so evident from today's game.

Livo is a GOOD player and does the Carlton jumper proud.

Many other young guys played great games, which was good to see when our senior group weren't up and firing today.

So, a lot to build on, and as definately seen today, a lot to build WITH for the club.

There are exciting times to look forward to...

absolutely laguna ... kept saying the same things today!! kirk is an umpires pet, no doubt about that, but our guys have no idea when it comes to tackling!!

Maybe it's harder to see live than on TV, but particularly in the 2nd quarter he layed quite a few good tackles. There was only one careless tackle that I remember.
