Everyone babbling over PP's are just warming their feet cos it's cold and dark and there is no one to cuddle.

that's fine, I'm doing it too.. you know oh te kids the kids 9fake erection0 oh the picks the picks (disappointing climax) really its like masturbation - it brings relief but little joy.

but i always want a spoon to hurt. Always.

Talk of masturbation and wanting a spoon to hurt.

You have not been a victim of the dreaded 'spoon flick trick' have you danny?

I certainly agree that theres no guarantee of a flag through getting a spoon and high draft picks..

The rather harsh reality now is that the draft is the next best option this side of chequebook recruiting.

It is the best available option that we have available to rebuild of a club with a the worst list in the league as quickly as we can.

The way forward is one where you take the best option available..

Can anyone suggest a better option other than a handful of fist round picks and the best uncontracted player?

I think we are better off coming off a spoon with the youngest list in the league and a fair number of those young players with game time than with the large number of older players we had in 2002. (Obviously we are also better off coming off a spoon with no draft penalties).

In 2002, even if we were able to select wells and goddard, we were not as advanced then in the footy development cycle as we are in 2005.

This I think is a bit of a silver lining to an otherwise very dark cloud.

So assuming we recruit well (clearly a very critical factor) I think for these reasons I think there is a good chance in 2006 of a strong Carlton rebound and climb up the ladder because :

1. we will import talent
2. see some of our young talent reach their potential.
3. be in a position to know which of our trialled players havent mabe the grade..

The correct strategy then is one where we dont pick options solely based on pride, options solely based on honour or options based on anything other than the best chance we have of getting out of the crap position that we are in right now as quickly as we can, which for better or worse is the football socialism that currently rules our game.
