when I played footy the crowd used to call out "Woof"

I took it as a huge compliment, until I realised there was no "w" in what they were saying.

Got the feeling this won't be Bryan's only standout performance this year. Walker was stunning in his debut against the Eagles but he's never been able to fully redeem himself (one day he'll be great!).

we said it first becuase we got a heap of people doing it at the ground first.

yes myself and several others of the TC crew where the lound mouth bastards that had starting doing it from his very first kick and then those around us started to do it, then those around them, then more, and more, and more and more.

That decision was crap, and the umpire that made it looks like an Ugnaught.

Wasn't a crap decision, cringed as soon as he kicked it and just waited for the call. One of the only GOOD decisions they made ALL DAY

Am I missing the sarcasm here Fev? Bryans foot was clearly inside the line, as was shown by channel ten about half a dozen times. All commentators were flabbergasted, even Michael "Aren't Sydney f*cking wonderful" Christian...

Congratulations Deano, on the 27th reply to this thread. Very appropriate.

Well it wasn't sarcastic but I haven't seen a replay....just had a very good angle on it and it looked 100% on the line at least. I'm happy to be wrong about it...I'll watch it soonish

Provided no part of the foot is OVER the line, it's a valid kick. The kick in question looks perfectly fine from every angle, and that particular umpire should be dropped this week for such blatantly over-zealous officiating. It was terrible, in fact.

13. KICKING THE FOOTBALL INTO PLAY AFTER A BEHIND
HAS BEEN SCORED
13.1 FOOTBALL MUST BE KICKED
Unless Law 12.4 applies, when a Behind has been recorded, the
following shall apply:-
(a) the football must be Kicked back into play by any Player of the
defending Team within a reasonable time;
(b) the football must be Kicked from within the Goal Square. For
the avoidance of doubt, one foot of the Player must be behind
any of the lines which define the Goal Square at the time when
the Player Kicks the football;
(c) no Player is permitted within 5 metres of the Goal Square at the
time when the football is being Kicked back into play; and
(d) The player kicking the football into play may, provided he has
kicked the football clear from his hands, regain possession and
play on from within the goal square.

Nick Stevens took the very next kick out and it his foot was exactly on the same part of the goal square and no call from the "!@#$%&" umpire.

Umpire was a complete tosspot.

Michael Christian as commentater also ridiculously biased against Carlton - worse than Eddy  .

Just saw it. Commentary was PAINFUL. "At no point was his foot outside the line"...yeah guys but it doesn't have to be. You're as bad as Eddie and prior opportunity. Foot was firmly planted on the line

Whole foot has to be behind the line or part of it? I still reckon I've seen worse ignored...

You aren't allowed to touch the line, but it's generally ok because the umpire doesn't have a microscope. Chrissy was unlucky enough to stamp his WHOLE FOOT on the line.

It was great to hear a "Woof" at a Carlton game again. It's going to be interesting when Hartlett eventually cracks into the side, having two players with long 60m+ kicks will be something to see. :D
Three with Fev...

Hartlett probably has the best kick of the three.. over distance.

Coming soon to a Carlton game near you:

THE THREE WOOOF-MAESTROS!!

Starring Bryan, Hartlett and The Shag.....

....Bryan kicks in with a long bomb to Hartlett. WOOOOF!!

Hartlett takes a strong grab at CHB and finds the chest of a leading Fevola with a 60 meter pass. WOOOOOF!!

The Shag goes back and from outside 50 WOOOFS! it.... for a..... GOOOOOOAAL!!

Three WOOOOFS per goal from a kick-in!.. I'd like to see that! 8)

Fevolaaaa's right (phew, looks like I've included the correct no. of 'a's!). It appears as though extreme (??) patriotism is hampering some people's judgement in this circumstance. As much as I love Bryan, his foot was clearly over the line and the umpire made a pretty good call (although in my personal opinion, that particular ump is a complete wanker and he did call some shockers on the day). Just as Fevolaaaa stated in regard to the rule, the point of impact cannot even be partially on the line.
