I took a liking to Livo's game on the weekend. He had a few kicked on him, many of which were on the rebound and quality delivery. Putting those aside, wherever there was a 50 / 50, he showed that he could match for speed and strength. A couple of tackles were outstanding, the one in the goalsquare to save a certain goal and another on Hall at the 50. Still tends to fumble a bit, but certainly showed enough that with game time and confidence he could be a real asset. Congratulations to Livo on his persistance and the club on their patience.

I must admit I'm impressed with TC today. I expected a tirade against Livo given he was clearly beaten. You know, not fast enough, not strong enough. Despite having 3 kicked on him in teh first 30 minutes of play (including the one out of the ruck), I thought he saved 2 at least. He was pretty horrible in that instant in the last against O'Loughlin, but heopfully he'll learn from that.

We're either coming to terms with what Livo can bring or accept Hall as a great forward, especially against an undersized backline.

You wont be impressed with me then Molsey....I though Hall flogged both Livo and Thornton....14 marks is a fair day at the office..good delivery or not.
Bit worried about Bret Thornton...normally good disposal was average and he looked a bit jaded. A player like Hall can make you look bad because he is quick on the lead but I just think Bret's body language was ordinary and he needs to pick up...

Livo is still in the 50/50 bracket..his effort on Oloughlin wasnt good enough..being out positioned by a smaller player isnt good enough in that marking contest where Livo had his back to the ball..

I have to say I was pretty p***ed off when I heard Livo was selected to play because my confidence in him had waned substantially. However, given his latest performances, I've been rather impressed with his style of play and look forward to seeing a few more great tackles from the man.

You can bag all you want Elwood; its the more fanatical weirdo (read as 'psycho fairweather') fan with their emotional diatribes that I am concerned with.

i think that is more the point.

give him half a chance and he will kill you, and the game on the weekend i dont think the defenders did to badly, it was more the midfield lack of defensive pressure that saw the ball coming into the swans forward line at a rate of knots and IMO was why the swans kicked so well.

mind you, pretty accurate kicking for goals as well, but that shouldnt turn the attention away from what i thought was a poor display from our midfield yet again.

Actually, im pretty happy with it all really.

Seems strange i admit, but i reckon we have got our defense and our forward set up just about right, we need a couple of midfielders to get our midfield right and we will be a good team.

There are worse fullbacks than Livo getting games at other clubs, I think he's actually developing nicely given his early-career injury problems.

Elwood, O'Loughlin kicked 3 goals on Teague and McGrath. Hardly touched it when Livo was on him. That one incident you speak off, Livo was caught out on the long kick forward, not many defenders would of stopped that.

Agree with your comments here mjonc. Hall never gets beaten on the lead if the delivery is out in front. It's just a fact of life, he is a great player. And I agree Livo was caught out damned if I do and damned if I don't where no pressure of any description was placed on the Swan who ran 70m out of defence with no chaser and no attempts to intercept.

Livo was taken of straight after, but I watched what happened when he came to the bench and there was no phone convo with Denis, he just went for some stretches.

Yeah there was nothing Livo could do, the Swans got the clearance far too easily in OUR forward line and Craig Bolton ran from half-back to half-forward without anyone near him. Livo had to turn his back to the play to see where O'Loughlin was and as soon as you turn your back to the play as a defender you're in a lot of trouble. Alas, there wasn't much he could do to stop the attack. The question that should be asked is why was Bolton allowed to run completely unopposed without any pressure through the midfield??
