Obviously DeNiro's character in The Fan was a little over the top, but for mine, Mark's positive traits are a welcome alternative to the overwhelming negative vibe that persists whilst we are sitting on the bottom of the ladder.

Nah, Alan Jones could coach, so I reckon Andrew Bolt would be a better fit. Talks a lot but has never actually done anything.

Seriously our midfield is struggling in centre breaks, disposal, etc...yet we can afford to have Campo running off the half back line. Houlihan should also be in the thick of the action. At least these two can hit targets when delivering the ball.


Its one thing to be able to dispose of the ball but you have to get it first!

Want to know why they are not being started in the centre?......

Sorry BM,i am not one who knocks players unnecessarily but your initial thread seems all about defending the indefensible.The simple fact is that Campo had a sorry day and so did a number of his senior team-mates.

To suggest that an attacking player such as Campo breaking even with Mathews(a noted stopper) is somehow meritorious is laughable.I am more than happy to defend the wearer of the Navy Blue but Saturday was not one of Campo's better ones!

Molly had it right when he highlighted the half-hearted defensive effort by Campo when the game was in the balance,my reaction at the time was one of real disappointment.

Some here were highly critical of Davies but i say check the tape out of the 3rd quarter.See who was tackling,chasing, harrassing and keeping the ball locked in our forward line

It was'nt Campo,Kouta,Lappin,Houla etc but Davies,Waite and Walker.The kids busted a gut!

Umm I said Campo beat Matthews and easily, Matthews is in the leadership group at Sydney so he is a handy scalp. I said that up until the last 10 minutes of the 4th that Campo was breaking even with Bolton, (who killed us in the first half) despite Campo playing with a tag in Crouch throughout the 3rd.

I was not defending Campo and didn't say that Campo was brilliant I said he was good and admitted that Campo in the end was beaten by Bolton. I was just highlighting his game as he has been the subject of constant debate on this site and elsewhere, But if you can draw the conclusion that I was biased on Campos behalf from my initial then good luck to you although I think you are drawing inference where there is none.

Watching a particular player for a game or a quarter is something I do regularly, find it helps me understand each players game better on a indivivual level. It is up to the reader if my observations have any merit. Either way I am not particulary phased.

I welcome positive traits Verbs.
But lets deal in facts.
Shall we pretend we're on top of the ladder?
Shall we pretend we won on Saturday and we're all set for the flag?

Unless we identify our weaknesses, how do we work on them?
I enjoy BMs posts but I cant agree on this point.
A 500k+ player played on a 200k tagger and had less possessions.
How is that a thrashing for us, let alone a win?

Matthews possessions were in the 1st and mainly while they had the run on, he had nil kicks in the second. As a result Crouch was then put onto Campo at the start of the 3rd. I'd say thats a win to Campo.

I find this part very funny.

Here's a thought: why don't you "work on our weaknesses" by pointing them out to Pagan, or better still, Camporeale himself, rather coming on here and telling Mark he should write kids books. Not only will you be doing a wonderful benefit to the Carlton Football Club, but you'll also be sparing Mark your condescending manner.

Well sorry Campo, but I'm with Synbad. You can stay at Carlton if you have a $150k contract and promise never to give the kids a spray again, or you can go elsewhere and grind down some other club's culture instead.


Yeah this piece of play was deplorable but no different to many other "attempts" this year by Campo.

Did like his assist though to Teague for a nice goal.

Geesh guys, if someone actually watches a particular player and reports back I think we should salute them. Disagree all you want but that sort of commitment to one of the biggest issues discussed here at TC was great stuff.

ps although he didn't start at half back, he started in the goal square before changing after about 7 mins i think. Open your eyes, ya mug!

Campo of old would have marked the ball turned run a few paces and then slotted the goal himself - he passed the ball to Teague who let's put it this way, isn't the best kick at the Carlton FC, is a backman and was actually under pressure when he kicked.

IMO Campo should get no credit for that but Teague should get it all.

My first reaction when Campo marked it was - turn around run and goal. He didn't. Sorry, but leaders will be selfish when they need to be. When a senior player needed to stand up and be counted he went missing, if Teague had missed we would we saying "Erk, Teague, he can't kick"

Clem, The ball bounced before it got to Campo, thus it was a play on situation, he avoided at least two Swan players before handballing out the back to Teague.

And your second statement just shows that in some eyes Campo cannot win. He plays on kicks the goal and get slammed for being selfish for ignoring better positioned player. He does the team thing and cops it for that as well.

He gets 26 possessions one week and is slated for being selfish. Plays a team orientated game the next and get crititised for not getting the ball as often.

No wonder I go :roll: :roll: :roll: when I read the anti Campo stuff on the site.
