Whispers heard late Saturday night over an ale with the good Dr.Watson at the Sherlock Holmes was the Kouta knee has once more flarred up ...no official reports coming out from club, but our captain was limited on Saturday and came to the bench for the first time this year.

Would be interesting to see if he runs some laps only at training after the recovery swim session clearly showed he pushed off the wall with only one leg and the customary dolphin / 6 beat kick was non-existent.

Your thoughts...?

They mentioned something about it on Saturday arvo on Ten.

Not good.

I hate to say this, but I think the great man is finished.
Seriously people don't realise how hard that is for me to say either. I love the bloke.

Yes he came off for I think the first time this year. Couldn't see what they were doing with him from where I was sitting. He did though come back on and I thought he played the rest of the game out. There didn't seem to be anymore strapping etc around the knee area/areas when he came back on.

SurreyBlue...that's your second warning! I would stick him in the goalsquare rather than say he's finished. God forbid Campo captaining any games...besides - we need Kouta in the team against the Lions to have a quiet word in Lukey Powers ear after the siren.

Forward pocket for me too if his knee's buggered.
Kouta's played his heart out this year with not much help. Really admire the bloke.

Personally would be suprised if Kouta plays on next year. He has nothing left to prove and has been an outstanding player. If he plays next year hopefully it would be as a forward

I think it was Robert Walls who said something similar about James Hird during the broadcast Saturday night.

Why would these two champions not retire at end of year? Neither teams are within cooooE of a premiership, nothing more to achieve.

Hang on if you listen to Sheeds Essendon* could only be "28 games away" from a Premiership!

For a bloke like Kouta with all his injury problems with his knee, to have played every minute this season is unbelievable really. Perhaps it says about as much as our lack of other options as a club than it does about Kouta's perseverance and toughness but nevertheless it's still a great achievement. Personally I would have thought that Kouta might just go around again but if his knee is playing up then maybe it's time to give it away.

He will probably play this week and have 37 touches and kick 7 goals.

Good call.

No slight on the great man, but he was given the captaincy at the wrong time. The injuries he has sustained haven't allowed him to be on the park week in week out.

Sad, really.

Didn't they say Kouta had a wrist injury and that's why he was benched.

Ok, just had an orgasm.

Guys seriously, was it that long ago that a thread on 'Kouta to retire' came up? What happened the very next week? He got BOG with 34 possesions and a goal against north melbounre. Then got 22 possesions (incl 11 clearances) and a goal against the bombers!

Give it a rest. Please!

Nah keep going with it.

IF we create one every week, he will rack up the possies, get 3 votes each week and win the Brownlow.

THEN he can retire.

Gee you are quick Jarusa. I've been hovering, waiting for the opportune time to jump aboard, hopefully I'm welcome.

On Kouta, some of you are saying plonk him in the forward pocket, what, so his opponent can pick up a swag of possessions and set up attacking forays from deep inside his own 50. Give it away, the most unaccountable footballer I've ever seen. Wait until I find the time to jump on board Synbads bandwagon.

I highlighted the lacklustre attitudes of the three whipping boys years ago on TBV, now people are starting to see what a detriment they have become to the club.
