You're asking a fair bit there mate. Fred Fanning and Jason Dunstall have come close but you'd want some pretty good delivery to be able to get that sort of return...

You know I meant 20+ per season goalkickers.

Goal tally:

Rank Name Games Total
1 Brendan Fevola 9 26
2 Jarrad Waite 11 20
3 Lance Whitnall 11 17
4 Matthew Lappin 11 14
5 Edward Betts 10 12
6 Anthony Koutoufides 11 6
6 Adrian Deluca 10 6
8 Ryan Houlihan 11 5
9 Nick Stevens 11 4
9 Troy Longmuir 4 4

As bizarre as it sounds but this is the first season since 2000 that we might have two players kick 40+ goals for the season.

If you look at our last Premiership Season (1995)

Kernahan 70+
Pearce 50+
Spalding, Clape, Rice 30+ (or close to it).

I thought if Fev and Whitnall could kick 120-150 between them then we'd be going pretty well and in the finals. The fact they've kicked 43 between them at the halway stage tells a pretty big story, even though 20 from Waite is a bonus at this stage.

The fact they haven't is obviously not entirely a reflection on their season, but as much as what's happening furher afield.

The fact we've identified some players may not be kicking the ball to Whitnall is interesting. The fact Lappin was identified as one of the possible culprits is even more interesting given the comments he made regarding praise for Whitnall's weight loss, with him saying thats what should have been expected of him. Some heat between Lappin and Whitnall?

We lack a genuine inside midfielder and considering kouta will retire in the next year or so, it is very important we draft someone who is built like a bull and does not have to spend 4 years in the gym to build up.

Brock Mclean and Jordan Lewis are the type of midfielder we need to be drafting. Probably wouldnt draft someone like that with a top 5 pick but if we traded for another late first rounder we should draft someone who is capable of winning plenty of the ball

Yeh, I noticed that one last week, was going to do a thread on it soon actually.

Very exciting to see.

If you have a look at the history on that page from 2000-2004 there are some very very good footballers who have been in the top 5 goalkickers for the NRS over the years.

Lets hope Eddie stays up the top.
